Fabric Puppy Plushie - Easy DIY Needlework How to
Hello, friends especially needleworkers!
At first i wanted to practice my skill in using my mini sewing machine by using this dachshund puppy project, but when i cut the pattern then i realized it was too difficult to do so i decided to sew it with my hand, but unfortunately the result is not too well as i expected. Well, yeah, this was my first time making fabric puppy, i hope you could enjoy it. Let's get started!
Project Time: around 10 hours
Difficulty: Medium
Skills needed:
- back stitch
- ladder stitch
- satin stitch
Materials and Things needed:
- paper for the pattern
- pencil
- scissors and fabric scissors
- thick paper or thin cardboard
- glue stick or any paper glue plus cellotape
- pins
- two kind of cotton fabric, i used batik (our authentic fabric)
- sewing needle
- white thread
- filling fiber (i used dacron)
- two dolls' eyes
- wire
How to make it:
1ST
I cut the pattern from the paper. Glued it on the thick paper then i cut them off. It would be just like below, i got ear part, body (which was divided), underside (also divided) and tail.
2ND
Next, i tracced the pattern to the fabric. The first fabric that i used had leave motif. After i cut two part of the divided body i needed to attached them together so i pinned them and then sew it in the middle. I used back stitch for this and mostly for the whole project (if i don't mention the stitch, it must be the back stitch).
3RD
I did one more time for the whole process. So now i got two of the joining body. After that by using different fabric i tracced the underside part, ear and tail. Look what i got, i got two underside parts, for ears and two tails.
4TH
Next, i sew the underside part with body just like below. Then i made the same way for the other body. Now after i finished i turned inside out so i got the underside parts on the right sight while the body on the wrong side of the fabric. Well then it was the challenging part, joining them together! I tried to pin them together in the middle then sew.
5TH
Then i tried to attach the eyes. From the wrong side i made marks by using pencil. Then from the right side i put the eyes (i made the holes on the fabric of course with the back part of the eyes) then i closed it behind. After finished, i sew around and left the hole on the bottom and at top of the head.
6TH
Next, i put the dacron inside. Closed the bottom and head with the ladder stitch.
7TH
Then, i joined the ear parts. Two by two. After sew them around i cut around because my fabric were too large. I left the open part on top to turn it aside. After they were on the right side, i attached them to the head. Closed them with ladder stitch and attached them with the sewing.
8TH
I also added the nose by using black embroidery thread. For this nose, i used satin stitch.
9TH
I sew the tail around then turned it aside and put the wire inside. Then i attached it to the puppy's body.
THE RESULT
Voila, here it is...
little dachshund is here, the fabric puppy is finally done and it could be a perfect companion. Don't you think so?
