Culinary to Bandung with High Speed Train
Hello, friends especially foodies!
Recently I went to Bandung with my aunty and her husband. We went there not using car like usually but by the fast train. This intercity train is the only one in my country and it is a high speed train, a collaboration between China and my country, Indonesia.
In order to get to the train we should go to the only one high speed train station which is located in Halim Perdanakusumah street. When you arrived it would be easy to find the departure area because they put a large board of the sign there.
Also if you need a hand because you don't know what to do there you could simply come to the customer service desk which is also available there.
In order to get to the departure area, we needed to go to the other floor by the elevator.
And if you haven't bought your ticket yet, no need to worry cause you could easily buy it in the station. You could easily find the ticket machines at the outdoor area of the first floor. Three of us already booked the tickets online so we didn't have to buy the tickets there.
We then just went to the waiting area for the departure. There we found the small replica of the high speed train.
The waiting area itself is large. Clean and neat, it has many chairs so you don't need to worry of where to sit. It had marble floor, one of its' wall had brown sculpture. Had air conditioner and cool, it is a nice place to wait for the train. Plus it had some monitors so you could know when will your train arrive.
Three of us, had selfie while waiting for the train.
After heard the information that our train arrived, we then right away went to the ticket gate. There, next to the gate there were some small scanners to scan our tickets.
Then, we needed to go to the train location by climbing another floor with the elevator.
It's not legal there not to take a picture with whoosh, the name of the high speed train if we ride in there so then we take some photos with the train.
The train had red, white and also grey color, and it looked nice. Looked futuristic, right?
Anyway when we entered the train, it looked awesome. It had soft chairs in blue and grey color with batik motif of mega mendung, means clouds. It is a special batik motif traditionally came from Cirebon, West Java.
The train had high speed but it was not too stable as it told in news. Some turbulences were there when we were on the train but overall we enjoyed the journey, but suddenly it was over. We arrived to Padalarang station and it was time to say goodbye to the train. The duration of our ride was not even an hour.
In order to reach Bandung city, in Padalarang we needed to change the train and rode the other regular train, it called feeder train and it was free. It had nice green white interior, clean and neat.
To take this train to Bandung we needed another 20 minutes. So it was efficient to go to Bandung with only not even 1,5 hours.
When we arrived to Bandung, we rented a car that could take us mobile there. Our first destination was an old legendary chinese food restaurant that has been there since 1972. Let's check it out!
Here how the gate of the restaurant looked, so modest with orange wall. Look at some menus they put on their wall.
Inside the modest dining room was quite large. It had some pictures of their menus on a wall while the other wall had the traditional windows. It didn't have air conditioners and only had some fans.
In their menu book actually you could find classic chinese food dishes like capcay, fuyunghai, and others. For the half portions of menu they had kind of fried rice, fried noodle, fried beehon (rice noodle), capcay, fuyunghai, stirred water spinach, and crab egg asparagus soup.
They also had crispy fried butter intestine, ginger steamed chicken, butter sauce beef steak, ham rolled shrimp, hong pork, nanking chicken and butter fried frog.
They also had many other menus that i didn't mention one by one.
The problem was their portions were so large that we then decided to order their half portion menus.
The menu that we ordered were
First we had their soup, crab egg asparagus soup.
With red color, it didn't taste any spicy at all. It contained asparagus, crab meat and egg. Tasted savory, they made it really tasty and comforting. It also served warm so that made it even more tastier.
Next, we had their capcay.
Capcay was stirred veggies with meat. It contained cauliflower, green mustard, carrot, mushroom, chicken liver, chicken, and small shrimp. It tasted savory too and tasted yummy.
Last, we also had their fuyunghai.
It was actually fried egg with chicken, shrimp and leaks for the filling. It had savory flavour but it served with red sweet sour thick sauce which made it tasted better. But somehow we agreed that this fuyunghai was not as good as two other dishes we had that day.
This was our table
And here was my plate
From the restaurant we still went to the factory outlet, then bought kingsley batagor to take away,
then we took the regular train to go back to Jakarta.
Enjoying beautiful mountain view and also food in the train, that was how we went back to Jakarta.
Adios, Bandung! See you again next time...
