My view on the Hive marketing strategy.
This post is purely from the strategic point of view, it doesn't propose any detailed ways to achieve goals, it simply highlights certain dynamics observed by the author. I write this post inspired by a recent post by @acesontop. He mentions case of his friend buying crypto after seeing Matt Damon add. Should we go this way?
In my opinion this sort of marketing campaign is not in the Hive DNA, people paying any attention to celebrities are most probably not our target. Getting new users or investors in this way is unlikely IMO, however it can greatly increase Hive brand recognition, and that should be our focus in developed world right now. Celebrities? Possibly, but only relevant people, chosen very carefully. At some time in the future broad public will understand the need for decentralized social media. It takes 7times for brand to be interacted with to stay in the mind. It should be achieved already when people finally get Web 3.0
How do we get there? We should spend considerable amount of funds to marketing stunts to make Hive brand visible. Hive logo hot air balloon over major city, F1 adds, billboard campaign, Hive stickers. No explanation, just logo. Make them curious. A lot of Hive funds should be spend there, majority actually. Meanwhile we are sitting in the bunker, cautiously rationing funds for key developments mostly. You do not grow in the bunker.
Don't get me wrong, these are very important to make us ready, and I would take single penny from our devoted devs. However this is not enough.
Yes, this is the way community decide. Yes, it's very seldom somebody brings any actual marketing proposal. Do I do anything by myself to change this situation and acquire the right to rant? Yes I do, in the passed year I singlehandedly printed more than a 1000 Hive magnets, which are promoting our ecosystem in my city. Bottom-up guerilla street marketing is absolutely in Hive DNA in my opinion. There are also others working along this line like @kiel91 and @yangyanje but clearly this is just a beginning.
And this is just a strategy for a develop countries. Highly competitive, high expectations, saturated environment. People either don't care for the free media or doubt this is possible. Those who will get there most likely won't be satisfied with earnings and/or user experience. Until... Until they will get this is the way of the future. We can wait.
We can wait, or we can focus on developing nations already visible on Hive. Vietnam, Venezuela, Indonesia, Nigeria, Brazil and many others seem to be perfect place for the movement to start. With the support from the outside and targeted marketing effort we could achieve critical mass in just one of this countries. This would be enough for Hive to explode and change lives of many.
These are possible lines of action I can see promising for Hive.
Just a bunch of thoughts. What are yours? Cheers!
I like the magnets idea. My type of adds that I'd put on twitter are not anything like crypto.com. On the contrary, I'd emphasize a lot on Hive being WEB3 and a great social media dedicated blockchain.
I think about this a lot. There are a few little project going on like @hiro-hive and a pretty good amount of others are doing a lot on Twitter. Its a pretty good effort and has been really consistent.
I'm always looking for more marketing action to follow and I have a Discord to through links in if you are interested. Do you know if there are any tags or communities or anything to follow?
Users mentioned in this post are doing great job IMO.
I'm well aware of Twitter marketing efforts, however I cannot see this as giving us deciding edge in a fresh and outstanding way. I mean crypto Twitter is chaotic and not really trustworthy place for many. I observed and conducted multiple guerilla marketing community actions and I sam the rate of success was far for satisfying...
There is a little bit forgotten HivePosh community aiming for rewarding social media promotion.
I absolutely agree with you, the people that are attracted by celebrities might not be right here.
I talked with @yangyanje yesterday and we thought about a Hive Euro community, if more people get in touch the more Hive will grow.
And anyone can do a little bit of marketing by himself, without waiting for others to do the job.
I'm on the board for the community! We could also create together physical marketing proposal to fund printing and sending magnets and other merch around the world. I have already costs estimated.
Nice
I really like the point you highlight in this post. Specially that when one truly gets web 3.0, its about the community but also who actually prevails with authenticity. With that i mean that we are actually inviting new users to a strong community. Hive has been successful at avoiding bad actors, so who finally sticks around kinda becomes a part of this community. I really favor and appreciate good reputation. Specially when i engage with a post by clicking on it and reading it. That takes efforts and one can read where that person actually travelled to get there. Thats what we are time stamping publications and believing in liberty, freedom and the web 3. I am so in line with your vision of stickers etc and love your magnets. Me and @kiel91 were just talking about your awesome enthusiasm and that we share it with you. @sandymeyer and me are looking forward to mentioning you at out next hive meeting.
I dropped some stickers to my brother, let's see maybe he'll drop some of them around, told him to take some nice pictures so I can make a cool post about it 😂
