A DHF Proposal from the BRO Community

The other day, @raymondspeaks made a very interesting proposal for funding from the DHF. His goal is to use YouTube to draw people to Hive. Ray knows what he's doing. His YouTube channel is already rapidly growing and he is doing great work to bring new people to Hive.

Hive has always had a user problem. We lost a great many good people when we moved from Steemit and we continued to bleed people for awhile after that fork. We have never been able to appeal to the masses or draw many. Then half the people we do manage to convince to join Hive, we chase away, with Hive Watchers downvoting them and making it so difficult and onerous to appeal that they give up, go away, and don't return. Perhaps this has saved us from some bad actors, but it has also costs us a great many innocent users who would have contributed much to our ecosystem.

There are some onboarding projects here and there, but not nearly enough. Most people who we onboard are not going to continue, so in order to combat that, we need to be onboarding a lot.

YouTube is an untapped resource here and potentially the best one available. Ray is posed to tap this market for us.

His requests are fairly modest, especially when compared to the frankly insane requests that many DHF proposals throw at us. Also, unlike most other proposals, Ray promises regular progress reports on his work. This should be a requirement of every DHF project. Every project should be required to update us weekly or lose funding, but I digress. But Ray is offering progress reports, detailed analyses of how his channel is doing and of the Hive buys he does with the resulting YouTube income, and a concrete goal.

I urge you to go read his post → Here.

And then if you agree with me that his proposal sounds worthwhile, vote on it.

Oh yeah, one more thing. If you happen to have @blocktrades' ear, maybe suggest he read over the proposal too. I think he would appreciate what Ray is attempting to do.

I really like the approach of using web2 and especially YouTube to advertise Hive. And I understand one needs some decent hardware for it and it takes continuous effort. But I think a 500 HBD daily payment for a channel that is just starting and has not even a hundred followers is a bit too much to ask the DHF. That’s 15.000 HBD monthly and an annual salary of 180.000 HBD. 🤯
I would support the proposal if it had 100-200 HBD daily, which is still a very decent amount of money. But 500 HBD daily pay is way too much in my viewfor the current status.

Actually he's only asking for funding for 6 days, so that is 3000 total. I understand the confusion because most proposals ask for 365 days (like I wrote in the post "insane") but Ray's is only for 6 days of funding.

I'm only asking for $3000. With the intention to put $1000 back if nothing insane arises.

Use web 2.0 and rl to onboard new users, develop better incentives to retain them.

That's interesting, it really seems worth it. It's like you say, finally a proposal which isn't asking way too much..
