Some of the oldest taste Cendol

In the Asia region, coconut is probably one of the most significant tropical fruit one can get anywhere around these region. Naturally, some if not all of these old fashion traditional food are made of coconut.

Today I would like to introduce to you one of my favourite dessert of all time, the Cendol. Whilst my Engrish is too powerful to explain, I borrowed a few words from online material here, so you can understand better.

Cendol /ˈtʃɛndɒl/ is an iced sweet dessert that contains droplets of green rice flour jelly, coconut milk and palm sugar syrup. It is commonly found in Southeast Asia and is popular in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and Myanmar.

Whilst the entire Malaysia is talking about coconut sugar syrup from Malacca, Mr.Rahman the stall owner infused the original palm syrup with caramelized coconut sugar into the syrup, made the dessert has a drop of smoke coconut flavor to it, and the same time has a pinch of palm smell.

Mr.Rahman is a Muslim, and therefore the dessert is for sure guaranteed halal. Best part of it was, Mr.Rahman is old fashion enough to maintain a roadside motorcycle side car as his dessert stall. And the shave ice were made of knife grinder(rather than modern ice shaver). I know it's not perfect, who give you an idea of making fine shave ice is good. It is the imperfection, the huge pieces of ice rock through the coconut milk and the greenish rice flour jelly, standing at 38'C hot sun enjoying this bowl of ice cold shaved ice and cure the boringness in this little small town of Ipoh.

Which is exactly what I mentioned, by the roadside. In front of a drain. Under super hot sun. Enjoying a bowl of tasty coconut drink and shaved ice, is a highly recommended on your Ipoh town visitation check list.
