Serious topic - inflation

As a proud Malaysia citizen, I've always preached to my friends from different countries about how affordable our lifestyle was, this time around, I really can't say the same anymore.

Over the past 10 years, things has changed. Despite government ensuring the public our inflation is well controlled below 3%, but we the general public has very good idea how "small" our income is.

Instant noodle for example, 11 years ago when I newly moved to this place, with the new rental and new child incoming, I literally need to feed myself instant noodle month after month just to save enough to anticipate new born and also different living environment. I remember very well, it used to be 50 cents a bag of those instant noodle, and now it's closed to 1.00 a bag. Its almost doubled the price back then.

I certainly know, price hike can be an indicator of economy advancement. That we need to consider our input before we can measure our quality of life, the output. Looking back 10 years ago, compare my income, it's not even close to double from back then 😂 So tell me, when food price goes up by a 100% in 10 years, and salary goes up by 70% in 10 years, how is that improvement?

Yes no doubt, looking into my bank account, the amount of money in it was once I never dream of I can achieve. However, with the inflation injected, my savings probably not enough to pay for my own funeral 😂

Just when I was puzzling wtf I did wrong to myself, suddenly news breakout, stating instant noodle need to price hike again. I quickly check back my precious commodity, and they're expired! I didn't think twice and kept telling myself they're made to last, therefore it can't possibly be too bad eating bags of expired instant noodle from old price tag.

I'm not saying Malaysia is not affordable, I'm just saying the price has gone up so far that our local people rather keep foreign currency than saving their money. Meanwhile, happily whacking my expired noodle and writing this post. If I stopped posting for couple of weeks, then you can safely assume I'm no longer with you due to serious food poisoning 🤣

In Indonesia, there is also an instant noodle that is famous for its delicacy called Indomie and it tastes almost the same as the Sarimi you shared above, I've tried it before.

That's correct, taste almost the same. In Malaysia, indomie is an expensive brand 🤣 you have to pay almost double the price of Sarimi. I'm not sure if they priced similar in Indo. Speaking of which, already 4 years haven't visited Indo.

Hahaha, in Indonesia the price of indomie is also a bit more expensive, we also often choose instant noodles which are a little cheaper also called intermie, hehe. Greetings from Indonesia brother.

He he he, I am entertained by your jokes, even if it is true that you are consuming expired sarimi but it is not certain that you will leave us,The point is I hope that there will be economic improvements in your country, your country is still better than my country in controlling the basic needs of its people.

For the most part, our country are quite similar. We will just have to suck it up and see how things turn out. We have a new government now, let's hope they do their job properly this time, so I can afford to visit Indo for the third time in my life.

Similar thing since I arrived in Cambodia in 2010, many prices of things have gone up 100%, but the overall increase in average incomes is nowhere near this. I've never heard of Sarimi noodles, I assume a Malaysian brand that doesn't have the international reach like IndoMie noodles?

I assume native Malaysian noodles would have flavors like murtabak, milk tea, and fish-head 😁.

I think Sarimi is also from Indonesia. It taste exactly the same as the retro vertical orientation packaging Indomie brown yellow version.

Rumour has it, the old version of Indomie was produced locally here in Malaysia. Due to some licensing issue, now we're in line with Indonesia, for whatever reason the "old taste" now I can only find it in Ibumie 😂 I think I make you confuse. Trust me, I still have the Mandela effect in my mind, I remember the name supposed to be Indomee instead of Indomie.

Talking about fusion food, Dominos made boba milk tea pizza.

I haven't tried it, and have no intention to try it also 😊

I think I also posted once, lays combi KFC

I can understand the KFC Lay's chips thing, that's not a bad idea at all, but no thanks to boba milk tea pizza. I wonder if the boba pizza was a hit, I would imagine it didn't/won't last on the menu long. As for the IndoMie conspiracy, Malaysia should break away and try to oust IndoMie as the international packaged noodle king. Perhaps a good name would be "Malacca Pirate Noodles," might as well provide some history and lore with the noodle brand.

Technically, we fusion everything except traditional food.

Boba noodle for example. Pretty mind fcuked. Not forgetting some body building folks actually blending down their tuna into smoothies 🫣

I'll make sure to call a doctor. Maybe I should do it myself to get away with house work.

Notti gurl 🤣 we're in a different environment. You can't afford to fall sick, since your medical facility is so far from your house.

I used to pretend to be sick when I'm lazy to go to work. When I was a little younger, I spent most of my time doing mechincal work to my car. I like to buy old cars, fix them up and drive them. Often I worked until very late at night, and the next day I couldn't perform my job properly due to lack of sleep. I usually get away with small cut to my hand and take a day off from work.

Until one time, I wanted to get out from work as usual. I went to the steel coil and wanted to make a small cut to my arms so I can possibly get a couple of days off. The steel strap broke on me, and the steel roll unrolled the surface sheet rapidly and sliced opened my forearm. Leaving a huge insertion. Believe it or not, I don't see blood coming out immediately, it looks exactly like cut fish.

Was going to get you some gory fish cut away photo, but suddenly remember you're vegan. So, let's call that part off. As soon as I stand up, blood pouring out from the cut and spill around the place. Fortunately I have a colleague around, she wrapped me up and send me to the hospital or I'll probably left there bleed to death.

The story is, don't hurt yourself thinking of get away from chores. It's a blessing when we have a healthy body and can carry out daily task 😉 Sorry if Uncle Dave long winded, but that's what old people do.

I never pretend to be sick or cut myself to get away from house work. I do sleep when I don’t want to work at the time and wake up when I know I have to work. If I don’t do my work then nobody will so I must do it. Sometimes I asked my sister to do it for me in exchange I give her something or I do something that she doesn’t to do. It never works but it if worth a try.
