Coffee Ink
Coffee Ink is a coffee shop located 40km away from Kuala Lumpur city center. Situated at Bandar Botanic next to Bukit Tinggi Klang. I'm fortunate to have my friend Darren Wen Dick brought me there after lunch, and decided to have a coffee time so we can sit down and chat for the rest of the afternoon.
- Located at one of the shop houses on the first floor. Lately there's been increasing of upper level coffee shops due to ground floor become seriously expensive.
- An old sewing machine at the stairway to greet customers.
- Darren ordered a Mocha. According to him, the cocoa taste and coffee taste almost balanced each other out, the milk foam is extremely creamy.
- The shop are properly decorated and lighting is very comfortable.
- One thing in Klang is unique compare to Kuala Lumpur, they are usually very wide, therefore table setup become very spacious and feeling easy with those new rules of social distancing.
- Darren asked me to choose, and I don't know what to expect. I wanted a plain cheese cake, but all of them are flavored, so I guess getting a caramel infused should be closest to its original taste. The cake is rich and smooth, caramel seems a little "artificial", but all good. Please understand cheese cake itself is a triple processed food, no matter how "organic" the ingredients is, it's bound to be high GI.
- Darren ordered a durian mille crêpe. I'm impressed the moment the cake was served, I can immediately smell it from the table distance. The crêpe is soft and does not break apart. The durian cream that holds the layers together is unusually strong. I wish I can have another piece of it all by myself. Forgive the plate art, it's a little um.... Nah just forget it
- I didn't touch my later until later we finished the cakes. It's very milky and creamy, at the same time I think the barista cleverly use dark roast coffee to made the espresso. The coffee taste remain significant, but there is absolutely no fruitty nor acidic taste to it.
Overall, I think the shop score 8 out of 10. There's 2 thing that I would like to add. One being, the pricing isn't really friendly despite the location of the shop. A city center price tag at the distance suburb, let's hope there's more people to spend. Another thing is, the shop location. I wish it's in Kuala Lumpur so I can visit more often without going through such heavy traffic just to get a good cup of coffee and a piece of nice cake.
