September Snowstorm

Well this was unexpected. I was out on the hiking trail today. First the light rain began, then the wind picked up a bit, and the rain turned to sleet. First thought was: sleet is better than rain right? Because it will bounce of me and not get me wet. Then the flakes came. So I thought to myself, do I continue to my final destination or do I call it quits and turnaround. Well I’ve come along way, so I decided to soldier on to Eiffel Lake. It did finally make it there, but due to the falling snow, it was barely visible. But I made it!

Hard to believe when it comes out all of a sudden, Peter Fonda didn't believe in that school bus on a Sunday in that movie.

Rain to sleet! that's common, but you seemed very surprised, yeah, i totally understand though. I really do love winter snowfall as it doesn't comes very critical.

It's good to hear that you made it.

Snow in September is indeed a surprise. I do not remember if we ever had snow in September. Nowadays we still have warm (24-28 °C) and sunny weather in Tiszasüly, Hungary.

It was because of the high mountain elevation, but typically uncommon for September. Good that you still have warm weather.

Unexpected weather in September 😜

Due to the higher elevations in the mountains.

That must have been such a special thing to experience. What was the weather like before the snow started to fall? Was it slightly warm or cool to begin with (i.e. when it first started to rain)? Thanks mate for the awesome pics.

It started out around 8°C or so, then as I went higher the rain began, then sleet, then Winter!! Good experience, but got rather soaked. All part of the game.

Yikes, that's pretty frigid lmao! Being wet in that must have been wild to say the least - hectic. Still.. memories to last a lifetime I'm sure!

You can see a lot of snow there, of course the weather has immediately changed drastically to become very cold, I've never seen hail in person, doesn't that make you wet?

We had a skiff in August, about as much as you show here, but nothing since then. It's been an unusual fall up here. 10x the fog compared to the prior years making it hard to land planes to feed the town.

What an unusual problem to have!

You a lifer up there, or any plans to settle down southward?

I wouldn't be opposed to being a lifer, but the end goal is to save up enough money to head back south and live an easier life with some warmth and greenery and.... LEAVES!
