What’s the next best thing to Canadian Rockies photos? Black & White Canadian Rockies photos of course. Sometimes, the monochromes are even preferable. What say you? Photos taken at Barrier Lake, Kananaskis, Alberta. Mount Baldy is the name of the mountain.

Beautiful images, I superbly like the last shot, beacuse is more open view and including additional elements such as the cabin and the trees with bare branches... A visual poem really...

The color photos obviously have their charm, but the black and white is transcendent, it goes beyond the beautiful image and builds a visual plane where the "soul" of the photographed scene can be appreciated...

I love the monochromes, one question chief, what are the monochromes? Anyway I like the 2nd photo, such a powerful rock.

I think the details and the contrast you can get with monochromes and mountains like this especially with the snow really makes these stand out more then color would.
