My Father's LaserDisc Movies Collection
Aside from music vinyl and CD albums, my father also collects and sell collectible LaserDisc movies and sells them to other collectors for a fair profit. Some of you might remember that the LaserDisc format preceded the Video Compact Discs (VCDs), DVDs and Blu-ray discs during the 1980s till the 1990s. But it was never able to beat the more popular VHS video analog tape format due to high costs of the video player and discs, and the inability to record TV programs or live recordings.
These LaserDisc movies shown here were mostly manufactured in Japan. And they are mostly prized by collectors. Even if English subtitles are not embedded in some. Because those made in Japan have the best quality and last longer than those manufactured in other countries. I hope some of them here could spark your interest.
Seven was a really shocking crime thriller. The ending will mess you up good.
An old, all about astronauts drama movie from the early 1980s with a good cast.
This 3rd installment of Die Hard was not as good as the first two but the 4th was better.
Gunfight at the O.K. Corral was a 1957 Western setting movie about the historical 1881 violent shootout between lawmen and outlaws.
In spite of some pretty outrageous action scenes, Commando is still pretty fun to watch.
Pete's Dragon is a 1977 American live-action/animated Disney production musical fantasy film.
Biopic drama about an American automobile entrepreneur who got into a stock market scandal.
An old Western movie sequel to the old hit Western hit, The Magnificent Seven.
If you do not know what this movie is about then you don't like fighter jets that much.
2 Back To The Future movies. Always fun to watch in sequence with the first movie in the series.
For those who like disaster/adventure movies! Might keep you on edge watching it.
Madonna in concert when she was still a young pop star and album factory hot
3 1980s released anime OVA movies. Anybody familiar with them? Please comment below.
Sometimes, it is good to watch a horror-comedy movie once in a while.
The greatest science fiction action thriller of all time! All the sequels were bullshit.
This was a sentimental movie about a rich European lady landowner who owned a farm in colonial Arica.
Captain Harlock and Space Battleship Yamato were old anime space opera TV series in Japan that spawned a few movies too.
A great drama story about an autistic genius and his reluctant brother.
This is my favorite Western movie. Great acting from veteran actors all the way.
One of the best classic Western movies ever released in black and white.
That is it. Do you like this LaserDisc collection? I will have another post like this if I am able to scrounge up my father's shelves some more. Let me have your comments below.
Great collection, I would like to have them all in original. I have copies of many XD. Wow even the Madonna concert, I remember I loved watching all her concerts on DVD, dreaming of someday being at a live concert, well that dream is over, now it's impossible XD.
congratulations for your collection!
Thank you. Glad you liked my post. 🙂
Amazing collection! Love to see more
Thanks! I will try to get sneaky past my father to take more pics.
