A user fee is not the same as a tax. In the case of bitcoin, you are paying fees for the use of a service because there is a real cost to processing transactions (or witnessing blocks or whatever). And since those that do so are not running a charity, of course they want to make a profit. Calling those fee a tax is a bit like calling the fee that uber charges a tax.

Exactly, Uber is a good analogy. I thought the same way about the 3% Merchant fee for Visa. Is that a tax?
