IAAC - Day 190 A Caboose as a Hotel Room
Today is Saturday, January 1st and I am happy to be alive.
We had some friends in town for the week and one evening we went out sightseeing. One of the stops was this old Hotel which has an historical marker. That was not the interesting part. It was that the old train cars were turned into hotel rooms. Can you imagine booking a reservation at a hotel and then find out that your room is the caboose?
The Railroad Resort had originally opened in 1901 however with the automobile's influence as it slowed rail travel and it was turned into a residence for summer and vacations. It was not reopened as a hotel until 1996 at which time the hotel, cabins and railway cars were refurbished and available for guests.
