The First Time I Died

~

The first time I died

I saw my imperfections

I saw my life in third view

I could have done better

Swore I would

But I didn't

The first time I died

Time and life left meaningless

All to return to dust

The inevitable I wished to elude

The first time I died

I knew what hope looked like

I felt the hands of an higher power

My spirit prayed for another turn

Got a second chance

My fears came crashing down on me

The what ifs

What if I failed

What if I died without making a difference

This time I swear it would be meaningful

A promise I made

A promise I'll keep

Good poem. It reminds me of a phrase of Viktor Frankl that I keep among so many others as if it were a treasure. The phrase reads as follows:

"Live as if you were living for the second time and you had acted as badly the first time as you are about to act now."

Reading your work, I thought of her. It's hard to admit it, but most of the time we forget that this life is only one and we have to live it the best we can, without failing ourselves. Greetings.

If we died once and we could come back to make things right, An atonement over life, I think everything would be different. New opportunities, not wasting life... We would really be renewed people.

Thank you for sharing such beautiful verses reflection and life.
Good day.

you're right and that's why we should live like we have died before.

The phrase, "the first time I die" holds a lot of meaning and you've taken us through the lessons one/you learned in the process perfectly. We indeed see our imperfections if we allow ourselves die to so many things

I loved this poem.
As I interpret it, it talks about how many times human beings do not learn from the mistakes we make. There is an irrefutable truth in the message you publish made poetry and almost always a tragic event makes us see the need to see life from another perspective.
It could be a teaching for children and the many times parents try to explain to them with examples and they do not learn until they experience their own existence.
It is a hymn to the need for learning and constant improvement of the human being.
Thank you for sharing. Have a great week.

Cheers and greetings

Love it. I would vote for this one in the contest but I can't get to the voting page. I have asked that they vote for this one on my behalf.
