DARK TV SHOW REVIEW
A TV show I came across with less expectations. I am so glad I took some time to watch this amazing show. It runs for 3 seasons with a total of 26 episodes. The first season had 10 episodes while the other 2 seasons had 8 episodes each.
I like this show very much has it had a good beginning and a great end.
Remember - “The end is the beginning, and the beginning is the end”
I would use a lot of quotes from the TV Show in this review.
ABOUT DARK TV SERIES
It is a Germnan TV show, which means the original language is in German however, I watched the show with an English voice over.
The genre of the show is science fiction & thriller. If you are a fan of time travel then this show is definitely for you.
In my view, it is rated 18 with Violence inclusive.
SYNOPSIS
The premise of the show started with a missing child. The mystery behind this missing child was similar to what had happened 33 years ago in the town of Winden. Note that Winden is a fictional town.
The plot of this show revolves around 4 families with their fate and destinies intertwined.
The families are Nielsen, Kahnwald, Tiedemann and Doppler, families.
As I mentioned, the show revolves around this family and everything is connected. The characters at the beginning up until the seasonal finale were all in the dark with their knowledge as they were limited by the ocean of unknown.
Think of this show like Tenet or Incpetion but fictional show of time travel where everything is repeated in cycles.
With investigations about the missing child going on, another child goes missing which changes the dynamic of the movie. However, we get to understand that it has to happen as it has already happened before and they live in a world of a never ending loop.
The characters begin to travel through different timelines. They travel through time 33 years into past or into the future through a wormhole discovered in cave near the nuclear power plant.
With a lot happening at the same time it easy to get confused as the characters meet their past selves, future self or appear at a time where they are not yet born. Some of these characters are influenced by their past selves or future selves to ensure everything happens exactly as it should be without them altering the past or the future.
The protagonist of the show aims to save everyone from the apocalypse where the world ends. Remember, the characters are influenced by certain people as stated. There are two factions divided as light and darkness. Depending on how you see it both could be light or darkness,
but one faction is more prominent - "Sic Mundus Creatus EST". They believe that all that they do will lead mankind to paradise.
The show looks into the links that connect four disparate families in order to unearth a nefarious time travel conspiracy that spans numerous generations.
This series investigates time's existential consequences and how it effects human conduct. The show gives a perspective of what happens when you meddle with time.
The show has several back stories for the characters with alternate outcomes for the decisions they take.
The show features love, pain and betrayal.
SPOILER
Because of time travel, the effect created an alternative world where the protagonist does not exist. However, both worlds are interconnected such that whether the protagonist exist or does not in both world, the apocalypse will still happen. The never ending cycle of the fractured relationship with these 4 families still occurs, but there is a third world. In this world, our 2 main protagonist doesn't exist and in this world time travel was first created that created both world. To save everyone, the 2 alternative worlds needs to be destroyed by stopping time travel from ever existing.
When you get to watch this show, you will be in the right direction and fill in the gaps of the major highlight of this amazing show.
RATING
I will rate the movie 8.0/10
Rotten Tomatoes gives it 95% and
IMDB rates it at 8.5/10
I loved this series, I must say it is one of my favorites. I ended up watching it twice, as I got lost in several parts, still I was intrigued how it all unfolded.
Very good post by the way, I enjoyed reading it. cheers @dante31!
I am sure the second watch gave you a better perstive. It is not easy to keep up. Not for the distracted movie watchers hahaha
It's a really good series, I saw it when the pandemic started and I remember that I didn't sleep trying to figure out who was who. I didn't like the ending, maybe I expected more, but for a regular ending you can't say it was bad.
Excellent publication. Greetings.
thanks ...
I kinda liked the ending. It was a happy ending in my view. Everyone suffered badly in the other two words. Too much pain and suffering. The ending was with peace.
I really enjoyed this but then for some reason I stopped watching and I don't remember where. It's a good thing that Netflix remembers where you left off or I would be totally lost :)
I think you should give it a shot again. Perhaps start again. You need to pay attention to the details. It is a top show.
This is among my favorite series of all time. I absolutely loved Dark, the massive twist at the ending of season 2 was mind blowing and the complexity of the story, along with its touching ending, made it a master piece in my opinion. This series is 10/10
The show is a masterpiece and it's already one of my favorite. So glad I gave it a chance. Mind blowing twist as well.
