¿Es don't look up una obra más del primado negativo? O ¿es simplemente una obra de ficción más para el aficionado?
Lo curioso de ésta película es que consiguió el mismo resultado que satirizaba dentro de ella. Las redes sociales están a explotar de memes con respecto a ella, sus actores y el mensaje que han llegado a transmitir al público.
Pero antes de llegar a mi opinión con respecto a ella, vayamos al principio del cuento. Ésta película está dirigida por Adam McKay, quién en el año 2015 ganó el Oscar por mejor guion adaptado con su película La Gran Apuesta.

The curious thing about this film is that it achieved the same result that it satirized within it. Social networks are exploding with memes about it, its actors and the message they have managed to convey to the public.
But before I get to my opinion about it, let's go to the beginning of the story. This film is directed by Adam McKay, who in 2015 won the Oscar for best adapted screenplay with his film The Big Bet.
Dos astrónomos intentan advertir a la humanidad sobre la posible (y muy posible) colisión de un meteorito en la tierra, en exactamente 6 meses y 14 días de acuerdo al recordatorio de dieta de Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence). Así que entre mediar con el gobierno de los estados unidos y los medios de comunicación convencionales, terminan por darse cuenta que el mensaje llega al espectador traducido de una manera diferente. En dónde la manipulación es el plato fondo en todas las escenas.
El evento astronómico se transforma en el escenario más irrelevante de la humanidad al lado de la farándula y el show mediático, mostrando entonces que los intereses de la sociedad se traducen en la banalidad y la vanidad.
Protagonizada por Leonardo DiCaprio quien realiza el papel del Dr. Randall Mindy y por Jennifer Lawrence (anteriormente mencionada). Además de tener la participación de actores increíbles como Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Timothée Chalamet, Jonah Hill, Rob Morgan...
Durante toda la película queda muy evidenciado que es una sátira muy marcada no sólo sobre la sociedad en sí, sino también sobre los partidos políticos, los medios de comunicación y, básicamente sobre todo lo que conocemos a día de hoy como «vida real». Que aunque representado en una película parece extremadamente ridículo, lo cierto es que no dista mucho de la realidad.

Where manipulation is the main course in every scene.
The astronomical event is transformed into the most irrelevant scenario of humanity next to the show business and the media show, showing then that the interests of society are translated into banality and vanity.

Throughout the film it is very evident that it is a very strong satire not only on society itself, but also on political parties, the media and basically everything we know today as "real life". Although represented in a movie it seems extremely ridiculous, the truth is that it is not far from reality.
En mi opinión, ésta película podría generar mucha controversia si se lleva seriamente a una conversación familiar, especialmente si hablamos de las típicas familias que aún a día de hoy consumen material audiovisual en la televisión como lo son las noticias.
Para manipular a una masa no se necesita mucho más que atender a una necesidad generalizada, un ejemplo de ello sería atender al mensaje de encontrar a un salvador para la humanidad en cualquier escenario que lo imagines. Y lo cierto es que esto sucede frente a nuestros ojos en cada momento del día: la izquierda nos salva de la derecha, el gobierno nos salva de los desastres naturales, Jesucristo nos salva de los pecados, el temor a Dios nos da redención.
Todo se enfoca hacía el mismo fin: «encontrar esperanza ante una situación que genere caos colectivo». Y créanme, el mundo no está ni medianamente preparado para una situación de verdadero caos, principalmente porque esperamos que las autoridades competentes sean quienes tomen cartas en el asunto. Mientras encontremos salvación o esperanza en alguien, seguiremos el mensaje y al mensajero, por supuesto.
In my opinion, this film could generate a lot of controversy if it is taken seriously in a family conversation, especially if we are talking about the typical families that still today consume audiovisual material on television such as the news.
To manipulate a mass doesn't take much more than catering to a generalized need, an example of which would be to cater to the message of finding a savior for humanity in any scenario you can imagine. And the truth is that this happens in front of our eyes every moment of the day: the left saves us from the right, the government saves us from natural disasters, Jesus Christ saves us from sin, the fear of God gives us redemption.
Everything is focused towards the same goal: "to find hope in the face of a situation that generates collective chaos". And believe me, the world is not even half prepared for a situation of real chaos, mainly because we expect the competent authorities to take action. As long as we find salvation or hope in someone, we will follow the message and the messenger, of course
Ahora bien ¿es esto un filme sin más o es un movimiento del primado negativo? Por si no conoces su significado, te dejo una definición rápida obtenida de google: El primado negativo es un proceso cognitivo para ralentizar tú aprendizaje. Es decir, ponen la realidad delante de tus ojos camuflado entre argumentos dramáticos y/o de comedia para generar en tú memoria implícita un sentimiento de rechazo hacia la verdadera información cuándo te la expliquen.(i) Para que me entiendas mejor, reza el dicho: entre broma y broma, la verdad siempre se asoma.
No me malinterpretes, no quiero sonar conspiranoica porque aunque lo parezca o personalmente lo piense, la cosa no va por ahí. La traducción literal sería en éste caso: podremos reírnos de lo imbéciles que puede verse la sociedad en la película, pero lo cierto es que es una representación de la pura y dura realidad.

That is, they put the reality in front of your eyes camouflaged between dramatic and/or comedy arguments to generate in your implicit memory a feeling of rejection towards the real information when it is explained to you.(i) To make you understand me better, the saying goes: between jokes, the truth always shows up.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to sound conspiratorial because although it may seem so or I personally think so, it's not that way. The literal translation would be in this case: we can laugh at how imbecilic society may look in the film, but the truth is that it is a representation of the pure and harsh reality.

¿Acaso eso no te deja en qué pensar? Hay muchas cosas a día de hoy que desde hace algún tiempo se han ido integrando a la sociedad debido a éste primado negativo. El mensaje se nos muestra en distintos escenarios, pero al final se traduce en lo mismo, cuando sucede no nos sorprende porque ya estábamos preparados psicológicamente para recibirlo.
Es ahí entonces dónde radica la verdadera gracia o se traduce el gran acto final, no es el meteorito lo que causa el gran desastre, es la banalidad y el poder de manipulación e idiotez tan grande que adquiere la sociedad lo que los lleva a su desgracia. ¿Podrá ser eso una premonición? O mejor lo dejamos como ficción.
La película engloba absolutamente todos los pilares que mantiene nuestra sociedad hoy en día, desde las relaciones sociales hasta la evolución de la tecnología. Y aunque sus personajes parezcan un conglomerado de idiotas, lo cierto es que es algo que se percibe casi que a diario a través de las redes sociales y la televisión.
La sociedad se ha visto muy envuelta en hacerle la vista gorda a distintos temas que nos afectan como sociedad de forma generalizada, sin importar a qué clase social pertenezcas y, ese es el mensaje explicito de la trama. Porque sí, lo dice muy alto y claro.
Doesn't that give you something to think about? There are many things today that for some time now have been integrated into society because of this negative priming. The message is shown to us in different scenarios, but in the end it translates into the same thing, when it happens we are not surprised because we were already psychologically prepared to receive it.
This is where the real grace lies or where the great final act is translated. It is not the meteorite that causes the great disaster, it is the banality and the power of manipulation and idiocy so great that society acquires that leads to their misfortune. Could this be a premonition? Or should we leave it as fiction.
The film encompasses absolutely every pillar that sustains our society today, from social relationships to the evolution of technology. And although its characters may seem like a conglomerate of idiots, the truth is that it is something that is perceived almost daily through social networks and television.
Society has been very involved in turning a blind eye to various issues that affect us as a society in a generalized way, no matter what social class you belong to, and that is the explicit message of the plot. Because yes, it says it loud and clear.
El humor de la película es un foco al cuál le dieron mucho peso, debidamente porque es tan rudamente exagerado que no cualquiera podría tenerle tolerancia a un circo de mediáticos imbéciles que tienen el poder sobre las masas, tratarlos como borregos y aún así salir ilesos de sus conductas, para al final, reírse de sus chistes a vozpópuli. Pero lo cierto es que es un escenario que se ve día tras día en nuestra sociedad.
En conclusión, es un filme muy bueno, de los mejores del 2021 podría decir y, lo cierto es que merece totalmente la pena. Ahora, si queréis debatir sobre teorías de conspiración, os espero con un café en los comentarios y déjame tu opinión con respecto a ella.
Queda destacar que la actuación de Leonardo me pareció increíble, cada vez quedo más maravillada con la evolución de éste actor.
The humor in the film is a focus that was given a lot of weight, duly because it is so rudely exaggerated that not everyone could have tolerance for a circus of media morons who have the power over the masses, treat them like sheep and still get away unscathed by their behavior, and in the end, laugh at their jokes at the top of their voices. But the truth is that this is a scenario that is seen day after day in our society.
In conclusion, it is a very good movie, one of the best of 2021 I could say and, the truth is that it is totally worth it. Now, if you want to debate about conspiracy theories, I'll wait for you with a coffee in the comments and leave me your opinion regarding it.
Leonardo's performance was incredible, I am more and more amazed with the evolution of this actor.

An excellent satire on American society and that extends to the whole world, since that nation culturally influences everyone. There is a sector that has branded it as pro-green and that is only in favor of a certain political current, but I feel that the filmmaker throws his daggers against everyone, including ourselves.
Most human beings do not like to be told the truth to their face, so the use of satire is very valid to show us the reality of which we often look the other way or pretend to be crazy, ignoring the problems that afflict us as a society.
A la mayoría de los seres humanos no les gusta que les digan la verdad en la cara, por lo que el recurso de la sátira es muy válido para mostrarnos esa realidad de la que muchas veces miramos para otro lado o nos hacemos los locos, ignorando los problemas que nos aquejan como sociedad.
Cómo decía Platón: Hay que tener el valor de decir la verdad, sobre todo cuando se habla de la verdad.
La sátira termina amortiguando un poco lo contundente del mensaje. Y es como dices, a pesar de que la película muestra a la sociedad americana, ningún país y nación en el mundo queda exento de esa verdad. Hoy en día los partidos políticos de todo el mundo se han convertido en un circo mediático en dónde el que grite más fuerte y diga más idioteces gana. Creo que a las personas les molesta más el hecho de que les muestren que ellas mismas apoyan a esos idiotas en la vida real y también son parte de la masa imparable que no para de hacer scrolling y tipear en las redes sociales jajajaja. (Me disculpas mi francés 😂).

I watched it yesterday and loved it. It's a bit long, but it's easy to watch so it didn't matter much. I recognised a lot of our current socio-political climate in it, so that was quite entertaining, especially the subtle references that many people might have missed. I'm sure I missed some myself, so I'm tempted to watch it again.
Interestingly enough, there was some experiment, I think in November last 2021, by NASA to see if we could "cheaply" deflect such a celestial rock. They fired some cheap stuff at an asteroid and measured the deviation in trajectory. Really interesting stuff.

I remember that news, the truth is that this experiment gave me a lot to think about, why have they been doing it? lately NASA has been making a lot of moves that are really strange.

When I watched this, all I could think about was its playing out in modern day right now. Instead of an asteroid, it's covid. Same narrative, different objects to push it. All propaganda. We are at a point in the US where satire is the new reality.Unless people wake up in masses, it's game over. The insane (congress, politicians, health care workers) now run the asylum.
Certainly, the pandemic ends up translating to that meteorite. It's amazing how reality outweighs fiction by a long shot. Here in Latin America we also have our great circus in the congresses and in politics, yet people watch it all and continue to overlook it.

Una manífica película. Loved everything about it, hahahaha. Además es importantísima para el momento que estamos viviendo y llega en un punto crítico, acompañando otras películas de enorme relevancia, como Dune y Matrix Resurrections. Es bueno estar presente para ver todo ésto.
