We went bowling and I managed to get a hambone
🎳
One of our first dates together was a trip to the bowling alley. We have been several times since, but it has been many months since our last bowling adventure. We were on a mission to get some good food and then bowl a couple of games together.
We made our way to Diehl's in Nitro to eat first. We got lucky and didn't have to wait long for a table. In fact, the line to pay at the register was longer than the line to get a table. That was at least the case when we showed up. Upon leaving, the line to be seated was out the door. This old-fashioned restaurant hasn't changed one bit since my childhood. It is one of the most WV restaurants around.
I went with baked steak since they only serve chicken livers on Saturdays. @flowerbaby got ham and it was so salty that I'm not sure how she even managed to eat much of it. Luckily our side dishes were both good and we managed to fill up. The place was overpriced for what you get though, that is one thing that has changed.
Afterward, we drove down the street a little bit and were at the bowling alley. As always, I brought my own shoes in, and then we paid for a pair of shoes for her and two games on our own lane. The place wasn't very busy since it was in the early afternoon on a Sunday. We are both pretty competitive, but also love each other a lot. So it is difficult for us to be nice and not talk shit to each other. I do my best to always encourage her and our skill levels are pretty even.
She was the first to bowl a strike, but I knew I would eventually. By the end of our first game, I ended up getting hambone aka a four-bagger, which is when you get four strikes in a row. I was determined to not lose that first game, and my final frame saved me from that fate. It isn't easy to beat up on your own girlfriend, but it is even harder to lose to her.
We bowled another game after and the results were about the same. It doesn't take long before both of us get tired and decide we are done. I'm glad that one of us doesn't wish to play for eternity and put the other through misery. If you aren't used to bowling, your fingers and wrists will start hurting quickly.
We ended up going home and relaxing for a bit after bowling. Before we knew it, dinner time was upon us. We went to one of your new favorite spots at Quaker Steak & Lube. We sat at the bar again and watched dogs compete on tv while we chatted and enjoyed our meal. As you can see, we had plenty of fun.
I'm lucky to have somebody to do things like this with. Going bowling alone sounds so lame and having to eat by yourself at a restaurant is weird. I've never gone bowling by myself before, but I used to go out to eat solo quite frequently. I managed back then and it was fine, but I much prefer having my girl to do everything with.

How cool! I love bowling, that's why I love watching you two, we have a lot in common, although I confess, playing pool is my weakness.

It’s really nice to have a partner in crime for this type of stuff man! That’s one thing about finding the right person. Makes life so much more enjoyable lol.
I haven’t been bowling in a few years since our son was born but several years since before that. It’s a fun experience for sure! Have you ever been candle pin bowling? That ones fun, though I prefer big ball bowling! I was on the bowling team in high school, one of my only competitive sports bouts lol skateboarding was more my speed but bowling was awesome! I think I was ranked second or third on the men’s team. Good memories!
Bowling just wouldn't be fun by myself, not at all. What's candle pin bowling? I've never done big ball bowling either, but I can imagine what that's like. I've only ever played regular games of bowling. That’s awesome you had a bowling team! We didn’t have anything like that at my school.
I really enjoy seeing your bowl. you are a very competitive bowler. ❤️
We aren't professionals, but we do enjoy competing with each other 😎
