If you are not already making use of your 30 witness votes, you should totally consider doing so. Even if you already are voting, perhaps you haven't updated your choices in a while. I like to check to make sure that witnesses remain active consistently and are going to continue to be good block producers for Hive.

If you have any questions about how to vote for a witness, be sure to ask. Keep in mind that if you have hive power delegated to you, the delegation MVs will not count towards your witness voting power. This means if you delegate all of your HP, you can still have a strong vote when it comes to witnesses.

Beautiful this post !!! Thanks for showing your list, it helps me a lot. It is difficult to make this choice even for someone who has been on HIVE for years. To compile this list well, you need to know the HIVE blockchain in detail. Question: first on your list is blocktrades, it's a name I've already seen, what does this user do for HIVE? (Excuse my ignorance)
Happy to hear you enjoyed this. It is difficult to know everything happening on Hive, the more information one has the better. Just to make sure that you know, my list was not in any certain order of personal favoritism. I just started with the highest votes overall and worked my way down.
About BlockTrades… he has always provided a great deal of liquidity for getting in and out of HIVE/HBD. You can see his posts like these that explain in greater detail the exact work that he does (some if it is a bit technical).

I try to learn as much as I can about this stuff, but I still lack ultimate knowledge. I think my votes are a lot better than they were two years ago though. I always make an effort to improve.
Ultimate knowledge is an ideal and it’s good to strive for that as change always occurs. I don’t know of a more thoughtful approach than yours. You went through your reasons for selecting your choices. It wasn’t some haphazard approach. It says a lot about your methods.

Thanks for the recommendation. I wasn’t aware of the backup witnesses concept and their dependency on votes. That was a shocker to me.

Every witness is different. Most probably don't have the time to interact with every single person voting for them. I doubt that there are many witnesses that would target you for not voting for them. So do what you want to do.

One thing I would like to emphasize, as I see you're voting heavily for the top 20:
Anyone in this group receives the same share of blocks, no matter which position they're in. A vote for someone far up there is practically lost. It helps securing the chain in case of a takeover attempt, but when you're active you can change it anytime should it be necessary.
The guys further down the list are actually a lot more dependent on your votes. The so-called "backup witnesses" get to produce blocks depending on the amount of votes they have. By voting for someone in the lower ranks you actually have an influence to support the work of newer or generally less established witnesses, and as long as changing the vote from one of the top doesn't move someone in or out of the top 20 nobody loses anything.
It's also not necessary to use all 30 votes. Take your time to know who you're voting for, it's better to have a few spare than just voting to fill the number.
Thank you for making that point about not being afraid to vote for more witnesses outside of the top 20. That makes sense, but I hadn't really thought of it like that before. Sounds like I could do some more work better choosing who to vote for. I appreciate you explaining how it works for those outside of the top 20.
Thanks for you input. I mentioned to @daltono about how your response was a shock to me. It’s kind of sad this type of info isn’t just out there in peoples faces for them to see. Is there literature I can share with others that can also help them understand the process here?
It surely is out there a lot. My explanation is just from another perspective. How the witnesses get their rewards is explained in many places, people just tend to focus on the current top20 more when they take in that information.
