Are you putting too much effort into your content?

Don't work yourself too hard πŸ˜…

Today's topic may feel like a silly question at first glance, but believe me when I say there are definitely people pondering whether or not they are putting too much effort into their content for too little reward. Some even consider giving up regularly.

If money is the only goal, then you are going to be disappointed quite often. It will be easy to start feeling like you put in too much effort if one of your post payouts is low after 7 days.

However, if you get genuine enjoyment out of creating content, then I doubt you will really ever feel like you are putting forth too much effort during the creation process.

As long as you are creating things that you are passionate about, you are going to want to go 100% every time.

Some of us don't have quite as much free time as others, but there is always a way to manage time in a certain way so that you can not get lazy with your work.

Sometimes all our bodies and minds need is a brief rest. Don't be afraid to take a day off and come back stronger the next time.

I think this discussion is an interesting one and I'm sure there will be people on both sides of the fence. During this stage of Hive, some people feel left out, but they must learn that it takes time to build a foundation for abundance.

Leave your comments and thoughts below. I will be ready and replying to all as usual.

Thanks for watching!

The success here comes by showing the real you, writing what you think, what you like, what you do, and people will like that.

At the end is all about enjoying the trip. People have their reason to take this so serious like a full time job, and is valid too.

I think you nailed it. Having fun and just doing what you want seems like the best option.

I agree with you mate, I've always said that if you do something for pleasure it doesn't mean a job so it should be for all content creators.

I never want to be in a position where I feel forced to create things that I don't even enjoy. Let's keep on this path of self-fulfillment.

Thanks πŸ™Œ

It is a complicated issue because there are times when we think we receive much more support than we do, but if we do what we are passionate about and publish it even if we do not have extremely high votes, we are happy with our daily work. And it is true that success does not come overnight, we must build solid foundations where we will support each other to achieve what we seek so much.

Being happy and proud of what we do should come first. Money is cool too, but never should be first in our minds.

very true I will not deny that money is important but if we do things out of passion and not out of obligation we will surely achieve good results

Hahah yeah for sure man! I put hours of effort in some of my posts and gotten shit for rewards. Some other posts I put 10-15 minutes of effort into it and I get 20-50$ for it! Lol it's so hit or miss for a lot of us but I think it's totally fine!

The money is definitely a good part of it all but it's important to spend time on the chain and engage with people and other things like that. When people put too much effort and focus in things like a post, they sometimes tend to focus on the rewards more than the content and then it just becomes a spiral of negativity. If it isn't received well enough then sometimes, despite our best efforts, we get jaded and bitter. If we are able to mitigate that and not let that get too strong then we are in a good spot but sadly some people let that get the best of them!

It's definitely about keeping it as a balance and keeping it fun. All of the new people that I've interacted with that just found the chain here, one of the things I tell them that's the most important part of all of this is to make sure you are having fun and enjoying it! Don't take it too seriously otherwise it will become more like work and less like fun and you likely won't end up enjoying it in the end. That and comments/engagement is key but I think the enjoyment of it comes first then engagement and all that second.

It's crazy, isn't it? I know a lot of curators just don't have time to actually read/watch every single post that they vote on. It's often more of a quick glance and a vote. Hopefully, we start getting more manual curators who have loads of free time to closely examine the posts they are voting on.

Staying balanced and remaining positive during most instances will take us a long way here.

I used to struggle with it at the beginning, I'll edit my drafts a numbers of times and try rewriting it better. I just wanted it to be as perfect as possible. It sometimes took me hours just to get it done.

But then, I had a realization through reading other contents and studying my own. The ones that don't have much effort put into it usually have more engagement that the ones where much effort is put into it.

I think too much effort meddles with the creative process and you end up missing the mark all together.

If you are still looking for an easy way to improve your writing... You should check out my video about Grammarly. A free extension that will correct all grammatical errors for you. I also did a blog talking about how much it has improved my writing.

I don't think that low effort is always what goes to the top, but yes it does happen. I wouldn't let that keep you from doing the absolute best that you can as often as possible.

Thanks for the links. I'll definitely check them out ;)

Yes, I still give my absolute best in every post. It's just that I no longer associate too much effort with 'absolute best'.

What I am always telling to myself is don't rely on upvotes and tips, just give value to the community and it will be good.

It happens (somehow)

I agree with you on this. I sometimes spend 3 and sometimes 4 hours to produce content and this is completely my choice. Because I love it. I want to present my content to people in the best way. I read what I write twice and correct it if there is a typo. Because the person who reads it deserves it. Awards don't always come, but when you go back and read it yourself, you will say that I wrote a really good article. Or in the future when Hive becomes more popular and is actively used all over the world, people will read it and say wow man, this is a really informative and good article. I should follow this author's other articles. Again a great topic man, congratulations.

I'm glad that we both are enjoying what we do so much. Being creative on your own terms is very fun.

I mentioned this in another comment already, but I will post it again here for you in case you didn't see it:

You are absolutely right in everything you mention brother, there are good and not so good, just as we can try so hard to achieve our goals, we can also take the proper rest that our bodies need, it is not good to try so hard, the important thing is that despite the situations you continue to fight without giving up, many persons in hive s give up in a week because they have not been able to generate good income after 7 days, they think they will become rich overnight just by publishing a post, you have to keep publishing and keep fighting, it is also good to take a little break, I for example I take between one to two days off in publications when my brain asks me hehehehe.

PS, you told me you were going to the barbershop, and wow your beard looks great, I wish mine was like that, I only have three hairs on my beard hahahahaha
Good video brother, greetings.

Thanks for remembering and noticing the beard. Had to get looking my best for my beach trip.

πŸ˜‰πŸ˜πŸ€£ uh huh.. I've been at that point before, when i first started and really tried to put out like long, detailed blogs explaining every little thing. and I thought it was some of the best, most important stuff (to me), but since I hardly knew other hivers, it only got a few upvotes. πŸ˜₯

but now.. what? me spend lots of time on a post (like hours) or take 20 pics and try and jam them into a post (or how about the 3 in 1 mega post that u have to scroll for like 10 minutes?! :P)

it's sad how every new hiver (and i definitely thought so too) thinks that if u just spend hours on the somehow perfect in every way post, it will magically get a BIG reward. OR I am no great writer, so I guess I will never be a top hiver and (insert tears) poor me.. (maybe the secret to hive success is to be great at video making like daltono??)

but u did perfectly sum up something I've learned, for myself, (and it seems true for u also and probably lots of ppl) that u should put in what effort feels right to u and u don't want to feel like u HAVE to hit a certain amount or somethings.. that it's always fun and cool! Hive is not a place to dread doing any 'work' or with quotas or anything..

We both have learned so much since our first days here. I have went through so many transformations and they all lead to further evolution rather than devolution. The key is to just keep going and the best way to make sure that happens is to be happy and enjoy what you get into on Hive. Whether it be posting, commenting, or simply sharing other people’s work. Many options.

It really take time to build something whatwhile, as a beginner in hive if you are really here for the money you will be total dissapointed, because even the little you have from your post will still be divided into two, 1 for curators and the other for author, excelling in hive is not just about the money, it should also be about helping building a community,am still imaginary does people that started hive and they are no more here, maybe their reason is that they think the project is not whatwhile so they left, and the people that remain today are the people we call whale,so it not just about the money,it should be about building a stronger community, a friend that introduce me to hive say i shouldn't worry about the money i made in a post, because if i focus on that i will get fustrated and possibly leave the plaforms, and i heed to the advice, and keep on pushing. That no matter what i will not stop,

up there is my goal, and i can achieve that if i stop, so the only option to me is keep moving.

You are right. Many who have stayed here for many years are now whales, but not all. Also, some whales could appear overnight still. Usually, growth like that requires a lot of consistent work, however, we don't have to be on point 100% of the time.
