As many believe today, we see in the Bible that while Jesus was there, a rich man approached him and asked him the following question: What can I do to have eternal life? This man surely believed that he had to do something specific to inherit eternal life, although this may be a belief, but it is a wrong belief.

At that moment the Lord responded and challenged him, this man should give up all his possessions, immediately the man walked away from that place and from Jesus. While this is not required to gain eternal life, at this moment it was what revealed the intentions of this man's heart.

17 As he left to continue on his way, one came running, and kneeling before him, asked him: Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 18 Jesus said to him: Why do you call me good? There is none good, but only one, God. 19 The commandments you know: Do not commit adultery. Do not kill. Don't steal. Do not give false testimony. Don't disappoint. Honor your father and mother. 20 He then, answering, said to him: Master, all this I have kept from my youth. 21 Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have, and give it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me, taking up your cross. 22 But he, afflicted by this word, went away sad, because he had many possessions. Then Jesus, looking around him, said to his disciples: How hard will those who have riches enter the kingdom of God! 24 The disciples were amazed at his words; but Jesus, answering, said to them again: Children, how difficult it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. 26 They were all the more astonished, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved? 27 Then Jesus, looking at them, said: For men it is impossible, but not for God; because all things are possible with God.

There are times when a false or erroneous teaching urges us to do such or such things to make them accepted by God, many have the same belief as this rich man, they believe that for the good they can do in life they will inherit the kingdom of heaven, but it is not so. This ends up being a self-imposed way but not God's way.

When the disciples asked the Lord who could be saved and the Lord replied:

They were even more astonished, saying among themselves: Who, then, can be saved?
27 Then Jesus, looking at them, said: For men it is impossible, but not for God; because all things are possible with God.

Mark 10.26, 27

All the good that we do in this life is useless to pay for our guilt of sin, we are only justified through the death of Christ, that death that has justified us before God and in this way we are accepted before of God.

Como muchos creen hoy, vemos en la Biblia que mientras Jesús estaba por allí, un hombre rico se le acercó y le hizo la siguiente pregunta: ¿Que puedo hacer para tener la vida eterna?, este hombre seguramente creía que tenía que realizar algo específico para heredar la vida eterna, si bien esto puede ser una creencia, pero es una creencia errada.

En ese momento el señor respondió y le lanzó un desafío, este hombre debería renunciar a todas sus posesiones, inmediatamente el hombre se alejó de ese lugar y de Jesús. Si bien esto no es requisito para ganar la vida eterna, en este momento fue lo que reveló las intenciones del corazón de este hombre.

17 Al salir él para seguir su camino, vino uno corriendo, e hincando la rodilla delante de él, le preguntó: Maestro bueno, ¿qué haré para heredar la vida eterna? 18 Jesús le dijo: ¿Por qué me llamas bueno? Ninguno hay bueno, sino solo uno, Dios. 19 Los mandamientos sabes: No adulteres. No mates. No hurtes. No digas falso testimonio. No defraudes. Honra a tu padre y a tu madre. 20 Él entonces, respondiendo, le dijo: Maestro, todo esto lo he guardado desde mi juventud. 21 Entonces Jesús, mirándole, le amó, y le dijo: Una cosa te falta: anda, vende todo lo que tienes, y dalo a los pobres, y tendrás tesoro en el cielo; y ven, sígueme, tomando tu cruz. 22 Pero él, afligido por esta palabra, se fue triste, porque tenía muchas posesiones. Entonces Jesús, mirando alrededor, dijo a sus discípulos: ¡Cuán difícilmente entrarán en el reino de Dios los que tienen riquezas! 24 Los discípulos se asombraron de sus palabras; pero Jesús, respondiendo, volvió a decirles: Hijos, ¡cuán difícil les es entrar en el reino de Dios, a los que confían en las riquezas! 25 Más fácil es pasar un camello por el ojo de una aguja, que entrar un rico en el reino de Dios. 26 Ellos se asombraban aún más, diciendo entre sí: ¿Quién, pues, podrá ser salvo? 27 Entonces Jesús, mirándolos, dijo: Para los hombres es imposible, mas para Dios, no; porque todas las cosas son posibles para Dios.

Hay veces que una falsa o errada enseñanza nos insta a que hagamos Tales o cuáles cosas para hacer aceptados a Dios, muchos tienen la misma creencia que este hombre rico, creen que por lo bueno que puedan realizar en la vida heredarán el reino de los cielos, pero no es así. Esto termina siendo una forma autoimpuesta pero no la manera de Dios.

Cuando los discípulos le preguntaron al señor quien podría ser salvo y el señor respondió:

Ellos se asombraban aún más, diciendo entre sí: ¿Quién, pues, podrá ser salvo?
27 Entonces Jesús, mirándolos, dijo: Para los hombres es imposible, mas para Dios, no; porque todas las cosas son posibles para Dios.

Marcos 10.26, 27

Todo lo bueno que hagamos en esta vida de nada sirve para pagar nuestra culpabilidad del pecado, sólo somos justificados a través de la muerte de Cristo, esa muerte que nos ha justificado delante de Dios y de esta manera somos aceptados delante de Dios.
