When hive prices go up, CTPSB holders smile
It has been an exciting week in the crypto world and we saw some very interesting price evolution for Hive. It has jumped over 1$ and this generated a lot of activity on many fronts.
A lot of people on hive started to sell everything they had to exchange into hive and then sell the hive. A lot of Hive-Engine tokens suffered from this, but not the CTPSB tokens.
When Hive goes up CTPSB goes up
The value of every CTPSB token is linked directly to the hive power that is on the @ctpsb account. The hive power is divided by the number of CTPSB tokens in circulation and this gives the value of the CTPSB token. This value is then replicated on the market by the market maker.
This means that every CTPSB token is backed by hive power that we own. So when Hive goes up, the value of the hive power on the @ctpsb account goes up as well. Holding CTPSB is like holding Hive.
The only difference is that with curation you get about 10.6% return with hive. With CTPSB you get close to 75% APR! Owning and holding CTPSB makes therefore a lot of sense :-).
How is it even possible to generate 75% APR
The @ctpsb account is upvoting the posts of the community and generates like almost any other voting hive account a return of 10.6%. Then like every other Hive account, it gets about 3.2% just for staking the tokens. However the account also grows thanks to the posts that we generate. 50% of the author rewards are paid in Hive Power and are added to the overall value.
The biggest advantage however is that the account receives delegations and it therefore votes with about 52'000 Hive power. Thanks to that, it manages to generate this 10.6% and 3.2% not on 18'000 Hive Power but on 52'000 Hive Power. That is a huge leverage effect that allows to generate such amazing returns!
