The Border Forestry Park of Manticao and Lugait
For Many years has past, this big and old balete Grows very big and tall. In fact lots of big roots hanging on it and big branches continued to grow and expanding. It keeps the place cool and relaxing because of its shade and lots of wild animals like Birds perching and making its nest on the branches.
This big concrete block were a words engraved on it represents the boundary point. This already placed in here many years already since when the Second World war ended. It is made of solid concrete and it put in the middle border of Manticao and Lugait. This place was once a camping site of Soldiers back in Second World War. They decided to put up a camp here because it contains a Great over views and it can easy to watch the enemies below at the Coastal areas.
The Main reason why those soldiers loves to camped here its because of the Great over views just like this. It can easily seen the enemies in the coastal areas, but as many years has already past it completely turns into an agricultural land were lots of tall coconut trees grows and produced lots of fruits. The coastal areas contains lots of stones and corals only a small portion of the place contains fine sands. Because of the strong winds brought by typhoons and bad weather, the coconut trees are already leaning towards the sea but it keeps surving. This areas is perfect spots for a camping site because of the plain place facing to the coastal areas.
This rocky road was already excavated and developed many years ago. This is served as a shortcut road of the residents in Barangay Calangahan and Barangay Punta Silum. It locates near at the big stones walls and cliff and during the old times, people used to walked in this road so that they can sneak out from the enemies. Different kinds of vehicles like trucks, Private cars, Motorcycles and tricycles can also passing by in here.
Accoeding to the elders I talked about the history of the place, this areas here was once an open field but now it completely turned into a massive and thick forest. Lots of big trees like Molave, Mahogany and balete trees grows in here. The Local Government turned this areas a tree sanctuary and they kept planting lots of Native and hardwood trees.
This is a cliff out of solid stones and corals. On each side of the stone walls are filled with wild plants and dangerous animals like Scorpions and snakes. It consists of rough edges and surfaces and near of this stone cliffs is the rocky road. It was truly fascinating and interesting to know the historical stories of this place and if anyone loves to travel to the place were full of historical events, this border place in Misamis Oriental is perfect to visit.
