I decided to vote to promote a more decentralized way forward in Hive
It is known that the blockchain revolution is tied to the decentralization movement. The more decentralized the block producers are, the better for the blockchain, so to speak.
After reading this post: https://peakd.com/hive-111111/@quochuy/witness-earnings-monthly-report-2022-10-08, I decided to vote for witnesses to promote a more decentralized way forward.
Specifically, this is pertinent info everyone should start becoming familiar to, so that you too play an active role as a voter.
Every 63 seconds, the top 20 witnesses and 1 random backup witness will be picked to validate and sign blocks. Each of them have 3 seconds to validate the block, if something happens and they can't do it within that time, the block will be missed and pass on to the next scheduled witness. For their work, Hive Witnesses will be rewarded in HP for each block they validate (see rewards in the report below).
Although I am nothing in terms of account size, I needed to do my part for decentralization of our Hive.
This is how I voted today.
You can see that I mostly voted for witnesses outside the current top 20. My thinking is that if more can see that there is a chance to be rewarded by operating a node due to such "decentralized" voting behaviour, then more will set up independent nodes all over the globe.
Hopefully, this can boost Hive's status as a maximally decentralized blockchain!
