Russian official claims 75% of Bakhmut seized - What next for the besieged city of Bakhmut?

It's still in the spirit of Easter that I bring to you news on the Russia-Ukraine war and how the battle is progressing in the city of Bakhmut.

Bakhmut has been reported to be one of the bloodiest and fiercest battlefield since the inception of the war in Ukraine 13 months ago and this has resulted to many casualties and destruction of properties.

To the Russian military and government, capturing Bakhmut will change the face of the war and probably led to the complete takeover of her desired territory from the Ukrainians. While to the Ukrainians, defending Bakhmut will mean securing her territory.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian government have been preparing to launch an offensive operation in Bakhmut, although the period that this will take place hasn't been ascertained.

Russian installed government in the Donetsk region has announced that Russia her military has seized 75% of Bakhmut and this is a breakthrough, leaving the 25% of the besieged city to the hands of the Ukrainian military, although offensive operations in the city is still going on but the target of Russia is to completely occupy Bakhmut and advance to other parts of her targeted regions in eastern Ukraine.

Moscow-installed regional leader Denis Pushilin published footage of himself on Telegram purportedly visiting the small mining city where battles have raged since last summer.

He is seen among ruins, clad in body armour and with explosions audible in the background. Reuters was not able to independently confirm the location or date of the video.

"I can say with absolute certainty, that more than 75% of the city is under the control of our units," Pushilin told state-run Rossiya-24 TV channel after his visit, though he cautioned it was too early to talk about Bakhmut's fall.

Russia says the capture of Bakhmut will open up the possibility for future offensives across Ukraine, while Kyiv and the West say the now smashed city has only symbolic importance.
