THE ART OF BEING THERE FOR YOURSELF ✨
As humans, in life, there will definitely be ups and downs at one point or the other in our lives, I am sure you can relate to that. One time, life feels so perfect and you wish things would remain that way forever. Other times though, you face challenges that would shake you and you’d think you’ve lost your strength to move on. I’m sure that the number of good and bad times we’ve had has shown us that these two instances are just phases that actually passes with time.
Most of the times during these phases, we tend to need people around for support and to cheer us on. The fact is that sometimes, there might not be anybody and you will just have to be strong enough to be there for yourself in bad times and be comfortable enough to cheer for yourself in good times. It is not every time that we’ll have people around us and it is definitely not everything that we’ll be able to even share with other people.
Sometimes you really just have to deal with it on your own
I saw a video of this little kid talking on Instagram few days ago and it really touched me, despite coming from a little child. I don’t even think he was given a script or anything. He said anytime he is sad and there is nobody around to comfort him, he hugs himself. He was asked to describe how he does that, and he did that perfectly by wrapping his tiny arms around himself. I didn’t know when I also did the same, and realized I needed it so much because it made me so emotional.
I had to be there for myself a lot this year. I went through a lot of hard times emotionally and mentally. I had countless panic attacks and my anxiety and overthinking got worse. I didn’t really cry a lot though, as I would have done years ago if I was going through such. I was so hard on my self that I decided not to cry, even when it hurts the most. I just tried to be there for myself so much because there were limits to what I could share about what going on with me.
We all know that the cost of consulting a therapist these days can actually make all your pain fly away😂, so that wasn’t even an option. I had lots of conversations in my head and I just had to hang in there for as long as possible. I really thought there was a time frame to it and that at a time, all my problems will be over and I will have a free and clear mind. Well, I was just being delusional, because I actually realized that the whole thing had already affected me deeply.
I wouldn’t conclude that I am broken in any way and I really want to stop being hard on myself. I just want to keep being there for myself till I am in a better place and even beyond. I will also remember to give myself random hugs and pat myself when I need to remind myself that I care about me.
This is even beyond the whole self-love preachings. It is just a way to remind ourselves that we are humans and even when we make mistakes or find ourselves in difficult situations, we have to be there for ourselves and also remind ourselves that we are still very much loved. Even when no one is actually around to have our back, we should be strong enough to do that for ourselves.
I think that is so so cool and we should make it an habit. Remember to always be kind to yourself. While learning to be there for yourself though, you should always know when to let people in and receive their help, care and love. It’s okay to not have the strength to be strong at all times.

It’s important that we take our mental state seriously but also on the same token don’t let it consume us! We can make the mistake of focusing too much on mental health and lose ourselves along the way. It’s a fine balance to be dedicated, busy and working but also taking care of our mind and body. Never easy but that’s almost the good part! Life is unique and challenging!
Yeah, you are absolutely right. Sometimes, thinking about your problems too much can lead to another problem.
