Deadly Russian missile attack hits Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia city kills at least 12 people
Hello InformationWar platform!
From my perspective and some others who are of the same view with me, the Russian military airstrikes are predominantly targeted towards high civilian populated cities and sometimes they're sent to residential buildings within different Ukrainian cities.
Looking at these airstrikes and it's constant violation of the international humanitarian laws, then you'll see that the war Ukraine is full of several war crimes that needs to be addressed by the International Court of Justice.
Just a week ago, a civilian dominated convoy was attacked by the Russian military, killing about 30 people and injuring a lot of people in the process. On Saturday, a residential building Zaporizhzhhia was attacked by the Russian shellings, killing at least 12 Ukrainians and injuring about 49 people, with 6 children inclusive.
Reports have it that for some weeks now the Russian military have firing overnight missiles on different Ukrainian cities with Zaporizhzhhia having the most overnight missile shellings.
According to Anatoliy Kurtev, secretary of Zaporizhzhia city council, earlier, a Russian military shellings hits the Ukrainian city killing about 17 people, culminating about 20 houses and 50 multi-storey buildings. These acts by the Russians according to the Ukrainian President is meaningless.
Apart from the killing of innocent Ukrainian citizens, the Russian military is causing collateral damage on a daily basis, which is worth billions of dollars and it'll take the Ukrainian government over a decade to return the damaged cities back to pre-war state.
The attack came after an explosion on Saturday caused the partial collapse of a bridge linking the Crimean Peninsula with Russia, damaging an important supply artery for the Kremlin’s faltering war effort in southern Ukraine and hitting a symbol of Russian power in the region.
Ukrainian officials said the overnight shelling targeted houses and apartment buildings in the southern city, which has been at the receiving end of Russian attacks in recent weeks.
Al Jazeera’s Rory Challands, reporting from Kyiv, said that the airstrikes in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhhia looks like an intentional act and reported that about 12 airstrikes have been launched by Russian on the city alone just in couple of weeks.
I'll end this post by saying that the constant attacks on innocent citizens of Ukraine, which is amounting to war crimes and crimes against humanity needs urgent attention and this can only be possible if those perpetrating the crimes are brought to book.
