Estoy sumamente contenta porque es el cumpleaños número 6 que celebro con ustedes 🎉. Han sido contadas las publicaciones de celebraciones, pero no dejo de recordar dos que fueron muy especiales. Una en la que mi hijo me regaló el teléfono que usé por durante casi dos años de mi estadía en la plataforma y el segundo cuando mi hermana me sorprendió con un lindo agasajo y una rica torta. A medida que van pasando los años voy dándole más importancia a esos momentos vividos con mi familia ☺️ los cuales yo jamás habría planificado. En realidad soy poco amiga de fiestas de MI cumpleaños. Entonces a lo que vine el día de hoy.

I am extremely happy because it is the 6th birthday that I celebrate with you 🎉. There have been a few posts of celebrations, but I can't help but remember two that were very special. One in which my son gave me the phone I used for almost two years of my stay on the platform and the second when my sister surprised me with a nice treat and a delicious cake. As the years go by I am giving more importance to those moments lived with my family ☺️ which I would never have planned. In fact, I am not a big fan of MY birthday parties. So what I came to today.

Desde hace unas semanas empecé a realizar la lencería para mi hogar, hoy es el turno de tejer los agarra ollas o agarraderas como suelen decirles otras personas. Para hacerlos dispuse de unos retazos de hilos (realmente muy poco) que tenía en la cesta. Empecé usando los de menor cantidad en las primeras vueltas y con los que veía que tenían más tejí las últimas vueltas de cada uno.

A few weeks ago I started to make the linen for my home, today it is the turn to weave the pot holders or pot holders as other people call them. To make them I had some scraps of yarn (really very little) that I had in the basket. I started using the smallest amount of yarn in the first turns and with the ones I saw that I had more I wove the last turns of each one.

La mayoría son hilos pabilos, hilos de algodón un poco rústicos, pero de bonitos y diferentes colores. Esos hilos son el sobrante de algunos proyectos. Los voy guardando para tejer apliques como flores, hojas, mariposas y otros que después pueda usar como decoración. Sin embargo, como me urge hacer los agarra ollas decidí usarlos para tejer unos cuantos.

Hasta la fecha he tejido dos usando un diseño de puntos altos bastante sencillo. Combiné los colores según la cantidad de hilos que voy sacando de la cesta. Me gustó este modelo de tejido porque quiero tejer rápido; cuando hacemos proyectos con puntos básicos todo avanza rapidito.

Most of them are pabilos threads, cotton threads a bit rustic, but of beautiful and different colors. These threads are leftovers from some projects. I keep them to weave appliqués like flowers, leaves, butterflies and others that I can use later as decoration. However, since I have an urge to make the pot holders I decided to use them to knit a few.

So far I've knitted two using a fairly simple single crochet design. I matched the colors according to the amount of yarn I'm pulling out of the basket. I liked this weaving pattern because I want to weave fast; when we do projects with basic stitches everything goes fast.

Me emocioné cuando ví terminado el primero y quise tejer otro igual, con los mismos colores y mismo diseño. No obstante 🙄 los hilos no me alcanzaron por lo que usé otros colores parecidos y de esa forma acabar con ellos 🤭

I got excited when I saw the first one finished and I wanted to knit another one like it, with the same colors and the same design. However 🙄 the yarns were not enough so I used other similar colors to finish them 🤭.

Los que tengo en uso actualmente son con colores de navidad, de diferentes diseños y un poco más grandes. Había pensado hacerlos dobles, pero creo que los haré sencillos. Es decir, un solo tejido será el agarra ollas. De todos modos cuando los voy a usar los tomo de a dos o de tres dependiendo de lo caliente que esté la olla.

En el segundo que tejí, si pueden notar, tuve que terminar la última vuelta con hilo pabilo de un color azul totalmente diferente al que usé al iniciar. Pero como diría una tía a quien adoro mucho "caminando rápido no se nota."

The ones I currently have in use are with Christmas colors, different designs and a little bigger. I had thought of making them doubles, but I think I'll make them singles. That is, one fabric will be the pot holder. Anyway, when I'm going to use them I take them in twos or threes depending on how hot the pot is.

In the second one I knitted, if you can notice, I had to finish the last loop with a totally different color blue wick yarn than the one I used at the beginning. But as an aunt whom I adore very much would say "walking fast you can't tell."

Al siguiente día me levanté con la idea de hacer otros agarra ollas, pero ya con la seguridad de que los hilos me alcanzaran. Ahora decidí usar hilos acrílicos, los que en Venezuela conocemos como estambre escolar; son unas madejas pequeñas de hilos, de 10, 12 ó 15 gramos. Estas que usé son de 12 gramos y si lo recuerdan estoy estrenando. Son las que mi amigo me trajo de regalo.

The next day I got up with the idea of making other pot holders, but with the certainty that the threads would be enough for me. Now I decided to use acrylic yarns, which in Venezuela we know as school yarns; they are small skeins of yarn, of 10, 12 or 15 grams. These ones I used are 12 grams and if you remember I am using them for the first time. They are the ones my friend brought me as a gift.

Les confieso que no hice fotos del proceso, pero si algunos vídeos. Entonces les voy a mostrar (si el internet no me falla) parte de la elaboración en algunos gifs. He querido hacerles videos, pero mi servicio de internet ha estado pésimo, no sé si es porque muchos vecinos se han conectado o porque es un problema de velocidad generalizado. Así que seguiré compartiendo con fotos y gifs hasta que se solvente ese inconveniente.

Elegí tres colores de estambres. En las primeras dos vueltas tejí con amarillo. Usé un gancho de crochet de 3,25mm.

I confess that I didn't take pictures of the process, but I did take some videos. So I'm going to show you (if the internet doesn't fail me) part of the elaboration in some gifs. I have wanted to make videos, but my internet service has been terrible, I don't know if it's because many neighbors have connected or because it's a generalized speed problem. So I will continue sharing with photos and gifs until that problem is solved.

I chose three colors of stamens. In the first two rounds I knit with yellow. I used a 3.25mm crochet hook.

Antes de comenzar la tercera vuelta incorporé un nuevo color. Siempre haciendo las combinaciones de colores con los hilos disponibles.

Before starting the third round I incorporated a new color. Always making the color combinations with the available yarns.

Hice un nuevo cambio de hilo antes de iniciar la quinta vuelta. Como pueden ver, el agarra ollas consta de un tejido circular de seis vueltas; dos en color amarillo, dos en verde y dos en anaranjado.

I made a new yarn change before starting the fifth loop. As you can see, the pot holder consists of a circular weave of six loops; two in yellow, two in green and two in orange.

El resultado final me encantó. Este agarra ollas es muy esponjoso, pero lo que no me gusta es que el hilo acrílico es mucho más rápido en agarrar candela, así que lo tendré guardado solo para usar en algunas ocasiones. Lo digo porque a veces me toca pasar la olla de una hornilla de la cocina a otra dejando la llama encendida y podría quemarse ese hilo y mi mano.
Ahora tengo tres agarra ollas nuevos. Listos para estrenar en mis próximos encuentros con la cocina.

I loved the end result. This pot holder is very fluffy, but what I don't like is that the acrylic thread is much faster in catching fire, so I'll keep it only for occasional use. I say this because sometimes I have to pass the pot from one stove burner to another leaving the flame burning and it could burn that thread and my hand.
I now have three new pot holders. Ready to use in my next encounters with the kitchen.
