My journey to become a commercial meal worm farmer (future food)

Hey everyone, as my main source of income I have a poultry business. For a host of reasons the business is just not what it used to be, but what is going on? The economy, loadshedding it's really anyone's guess.

I have been wracking my brain for a while now as to what I can do to make some extra money or start another business a "Rubicon moment" it dawned upon me. Commercial Worm Farm, meal worms at that.

Below the tray which we plan to use to grow our worms, we are going to stack these high in a vertical farm each on its own slot around 12 high in an efficient space saving configuration. Sheer brilliance I am convinced this will Cotton on and eventually be a sustainable commercial green farming solution.

Here's a really cool video as per YouTube how they commercially grow and sell these in China, sure in South Africa we are a "little behind" but if I start this business now, possibly in 5-10 years time or less I'll have an established flourishing business solving many 'protein shortage problems which apparently we are fast headed to.

I am going to start off with experiment with both traditional meal worms as well as the much larger variety called "super worms" these are effectively not actually worms but larvae from the darkling beetle.

I currently have both large and smaller meal worms in 2 separate nursery containers heated to around 25 degrees to get them to metamorphosis into beetles in order for the to start the breeding process so that we can build up large quantities of stock and fast.

My plan is once we have established breeding parent stock producing millions of larvae, to approach feed places, possibly also sell the Fras (larvae excrement) as fertilizer which apparently works incredibly well. The market is open and endless actually which is rather exciting indeed.

Below I have isolated all the super worms. They do not breed in a community as they are cannabilistic so need to be isolated in order to transform into beetles alone, thereafter adding all beetles back together again in a community to procreate.
