Splinterlands | Armored Up Challenge
With nearly all matches having 3 different rule sets, each individual one becomes less important and some rulesets have a much higher priority in the dictation of the way to go than others. When Armored up comes up you either want to play Monsters with the Rust Ability since they are sure to have a function, the Pierce Ability since they also will turn out to be useful. Recently, the armored Strike Ability was introduced to the game which also allows armor to attack as an extra melee attack done by the armor which can be really powerful. Especially the Wailing Wraigth comes in mind as a powerhouse in Games where only up to 4 mana monsters may be used.
I don't own this card yet though but I would love to try it out some time in the future. The 2 other Rule sets from my battle (Blast & rebirth) were also way more dominant so I pretty much totally neglected the armored up.
When Blast comes up you either want to play Taunt followed by a reflection shield monster along with at least double heal), or you want to use Opportunity/snipe to have a higher chance to hit one of the monsters in the middle doing tripple damage. With Rebirth you want to play Martyr as it will give the buffs potentially 2 times and also The Scavenger ability since a lot 2x as many monsters will get killed meaning it will gain a ton of health if you are able to keep it alive. One of the most overpowered monsters that came to mind with these 3 rules for me was the Screeching Vulture as it had Scavenger + Opportunity with fast speed and it gets protected by the extra Armor from the ruleset. With the couple of minutes available to choose between all the cards that I own, I went with a strategy to have 2 main melee monsters for damage output with the Lord Arianthus as my main tank mostly because it's hard to kill. I followed that up with my Vruz knowing it would do some damage but it would also get killed by blast twice to give extra damage output for my Runi with a chance for it to get even more as the Fungus Flinger with the Martyr Ability was in 4tth place. The Most important Monster was my Screeching Vulture which I put in the most protected place 2nd last. To end the lineup, I played another Martyr Monster with the Venari Marksrat
So a lineup with 3 martyr monsters, 2 opportunity monsters of which one had scavenge and the other had Reflections shield.
My opponent also had strong option available especially with the Oshuur Constantia but I managed to pull through in the end with my Screeching Vulture winning the match.
This battle was really fun and to me shows the potential of this game, it however remains very pay2win and even at 'low' prices right now, this deck costs 800$+ (mostly due to the cost of the runi). That doesn't include many of the other cards you will need to properly play the game or the SPS needed in order to actually earn rewards. To rent all this it's a big hassle and for me it's clear what needs to happen which is a game mode where everyone is on a level playing field for a fixed extry cost.
