Gummy Bird
Look! Junior caught a worm!
She had to wake up super early to get it. That's the only time birds can get worms-- when it's early. The rest of the day they simply starve.
It's a hard life.
Late birds never get the worm. When it comes to American English expressions, late birds don't get shit.
Except when it comes to night owls.
Let me tell you about night owls.
In the spring, the night owls gets the bird. The baby bird. The night owl gets the baby bird and shreds it up and guts it and feeds it to the night owl babies. Night owls believe that a dismembered bird in the owlet is worth two in the crow's nest.
That's not a figure of speech.
I don't say these things to foul the nest of the night owl, of course. Babies gotta eat. Sometimes that means babies gotta eat babies.

That's a very nice worm, Junior!! You must be so proud.
She looks happy as a lark, doesn't she. Free as bird. No gilded cage for this fine feathered friend of mine.
So maybe I'm going a little cuckoo with these avian idioms. What can I say? I'm an odd bird.
I'm a good egg, though.
Junior can vouch for that.
Right, Junior?

That was puntastic. I must be an odd bird because it all made perfect sense to me actually. This was a good one. I just wonder... can birds get diabetes from too much sugar? I doubt it but thought it would be the perfect question to lead into where i really wanted to go...
Hey, congratulations @castleberry, you just triggered our F.R.I.D.A.Y. bot notifications for the first time ever, when mentioning the word "diabetes" in this comment above. We are a new HIVE Community created recently, and officially launched on 1-Apr-2022, here on the social blockchain and on Discord. Our goal is to become a place to discuss your own or a loved one's experience of diabetes, for shared mutual peer support and encouragement.
Odd birds of a feather stick together, probably because of all that sticky, tacky sugar.
I don't know if birds can get diabetes. Unlike humans and bored domesticated animals, wild birds are really good at regulating their consumption of food. However, if they do end up diabetic, there is a Hive support group they can join.
Hey look, that gummy's flipping us the bird!
Dang, flipping the gummy-bird... that's OG right there!
Sorry, we already have at least one cat in our Community, adding a bird as well will probably violate our "no drama" policy, haha.
LOL!
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
The morbid humor gets the upvote.
I don't think I've ever been as proud of myself in my life as that crow appears to be in these pics. Maybe I should re-evaluate my disdain for gummy worms.
The pride here is merely implied. Junior doesn't like gummy worms any more than you do. She's an excellent model, though, isn't she? Really pulls it off.
I was certainly convinced, though my skills at reading emotions in crows (and people) have quite a bit of room for improvement.
LOL .. by theway the black feather is amazing.
Thank you!! I'm really into feather detail. I'm glad you enjoy my efforts!
That looks like a gummy. Nice early morning catch for the Junior.
Nature is strangely beautiful. I definitely found the blog to be double entendre, and I loved going through it. :D
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, the worm is just a gummy test dummy, not the real thing.
She didn't eat it, either. She's a health nut.
He must have loved that tasty treat. He might get addicted to it and give up eating real worms 😄
Possibly! But real worms are easier to come by.
