The light was so good. I took so many photos. It's a shame to let them go to waste.
So here they are.

And while you're scrolling past the words to see the pretty pictures (I do it, too, sometimes, late at night), I'll complain about how fucking expensive this next trip is turning out to be and how anxious I am about it.
Also excited.
Also anxious. The bastard full-sized spare I'm ordering doesn't fit in the wheel well where the dumb donut is so I have to get a roof basket which means I have to get cross bars. And then I have to get straps to hold down the tire and I really hope that shit isn't going to be super noisy. Probably won't be any noisier than 500 miles on a dirt road up to the Arctic Ocean and 500 miles back again but STILL.
I'm not really complaining though because this is gonna be awesome.

I started getting my shit together for the trip today even though I don't leave until the 29th, and I realized omfg I have a large amount of shit to get together in a small amount of time and I also need to work close to two months worth of work this month to make up for the month I won't be working because saving money just didn't happen and you can thank omicron for that.
Hence the anxiety.
But also excitement.

Dammit I gotta get a jerry jug, too, just in case something crazy happens and me or some other poor schmuck (schmuck means foreskin, by the way) run out of gas along the Dempster.
I gotta get all this shit, man!!!

And where the fuck am I gonna keep all the souvenirs and will they let me bring deadthings and Arctic Ocean water into the USA when I finally head back home?
I really like collecting deadthings on trips.

Will I go crazy from too much daylight? Will I get eaten alive by those infamously gigantic northern mosquitos in spite of netting and spray and incense?
Yes I'm bringing incense. I'm a hippie.

Pilot doesn't know what I mean when I ask him if he wants to go to Alaska and the Arctic Beach, but he's excited about it all the same.
And the cat saw me packing and pissed on the couch and on the gabi I got from my dearly departed friend whose birthday is tomorrow.
I guess this means it's all really happening.
