Opening Packs or Buying from the Market for Splinterlands

(Edited)

I am improving my Splinterlands game and along with that, I am improving my game assets. I do not want to repeat the mistake which I have done in earlier times, i.e. not buying packs. So till now I have bought around 114 packs and opened around 28 packs. To be honest, I have received some good cards and some common i.e. not so good cards. But still, I have around 86 packs to be opened.

Now the question is what should I do next, i.e. buying more packs and opening them or buying the cards directly from the market. In my opinion and what I will be doing is to buy the packs and open them because it gives me that luck factor to get gold foil cards or rare/epic or even legendary cards. To buy the same card off the market I have to pay a good amount of money.

But again, I am not only buying the packs only. I have bought some cards off the market too, mainly the summoners because in the 28 packs which I opened I got only 2-3 summoners and thus to accumulate cards to move to the next level I have to make a strategy to buy the summoners from the market and then open the packs to check my luck.

As of now, my main aim is to improve my CP. I have around 37K CP and to get to the Silver 2, I need around 3K more. I know I can rent some cards to move to the next level but still having my own CP is much more important than just renting it.

I too have rented some of my cards because I know I can get some additional DEC per day. But again once I reach Silver 2, I will remove all the rented cards from the market and keep them to myself, to play to the higher level. Now to increase the CP the best way is to open the packs using the potion and hope that you get some good cards so that your CP will increase.

For example, recently I have got an Epic Gold Card which has a CP of 2500, which is quite good and now if I have to buy the same card from the market it is around 24$, so that means this one card has given me the value back of 6 packs. So since luck favoured me I still believe in opening packs rather than buying everything from the market.

And for summoners, I have bought some of the cards of the Tarsa from the market to move to Level 2.

So, in conclusion, nothing is the correct way i.e. opening packs or buying from the market. It is all up to you, if you have a good Collection Power then you can buy cards from the market to improve your deck and if you have low Collection Power then you can try your luck by opening the packs so that you can get a gold card and thus you can improve your Collection Power.

Congrats on the Forgotten One card! I have been debating on which is better between the packs and the market myself so thanks for sharing your results and helping me decide. Are you planning to hodl any packs to sell later?

Yes, I am thinking of buying more packs off the market and keep that packs to sell later like 50 packs.

114 packs is pretty solid. The really nice thing about Splinterlands right now which I still feel a lot of people are missing out on is that the packs and cards are at all time lows right now. It's actully cheaper to not buy packs and instead buy the airdrop cards as crazy as that sounds.

That's correct but the problem with buying only airdrop cards is that we will be limited with our collection. What I am seeing is that people who have all sorts of cards are actually winning a lot.

Nice cards! I am holding my packs on the long term, now if those will pay out or not we shall see.

I will also hold some of my packs for the long term, it depends on whether I will buy more or keep them from these packs. But for me improving my collection power is the first priority.
