Monochrome Monday Flames
Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I dug deep back into the depths of my picture archive of things that I haven't posted yet and found these nice fire pictures!
Monochrome Monday Flames
Taking pictures of a fire has been one of the things that I've really come to enjoy, it really has a lot of depth to it and has some really unique looks! I love the way the flames dance and have varying depths and wisp away from a thick flame to the thinnest portions at the top. It's really some beautiful stuff!
Taking some of the pictures that I've taken of the fires that we've lit in the past and transitioning them over to black and white was pretty cool. I love the way the colors are steeled out in a way if that makes sense. The harsh black and whites of the picture looks pretty dramatic instead of the warm and pleasant oranges that are in the color versions.
Fire has certainly been in the news a lot lately, with the intentional fires in Canada and recently Maui, there is definitely a lot of somber thoughts when it comes to seeing some pictures of flames. Flames are one of the most important things for humans while also some of the most dangerous. They are the way to give birth to an environment as well as on the precursory tone, the way to destroy it before it can be reborn.
These pictures are cool because we've done a lot of cleaning up of the area around our place and collected all kinds of sticks, logs and other things for us to burn. Sadly that came to an end when a miserable old fucking coot complained and tried to call the fire department on us, which we did nothing wrong and the fire department agreed, but my wife would rather not be confrontational and asked us to just leave it alone and not go back to the pit. Breaks my heart because fire is a really relaxing thing to sit by and just watch.
I love the glow of the coals as they are rolling around in there, giving off various shades of white and grey for the edit here. I think one of my favorite things is changing up the black and white algorithm that I'm using, and seeing how the pictures turn out. The "luminance" version of the black and white makes the accents of the greys and whites of the coals stand out a lot better which was cool. The traditional black and white made the coals look a lot darker which was interesting.
I think the flame on the right is a good capture of what amazes me about taking pictures of a fire/flame. The fire looks so soft there, like a wisp elemental from Middle Eastern lore except that it's quite destructive and dangerous, giving the allusion of softness and gentle. Pretty cool stuff and one of the ways that we can certainly ponder deeply when we look into fires like this!

Hmm
This is such a nice one
The black and white gave the fire another kind of look entirely
Beautiful!
Whenever things are converted to black and white, their beauty is greatly enhanced, which is how these pictures look so much more beautiful.
Thanks yeah I think so as well. Black and white makes things interesting!
