Forgetting to Draft Ideas
Hi fellow Ranters,
Today I wanted to let loose a little bit about forgetting to get the ideas floating around in the ol' noggin drafted into a post!
Forgetting to Draft Ideas
I've been on a good improvement when it comes to getting posts written and published lately, where I was kind of struggling for a while. I haven't missed a day yet which is good but I've come close! I've gotten to the point where one day I wrote a post on the same day that I published it because I had nothing saved up and I knew that it was time to get out of struggle street and get back on the wagon.
I've been able to vastly improve my writing in that regard, where I write more frequently than I was doing then and that definitely helps. It's always good for me to get out 4 or 5 days into the future so that if I need to take a rest evening off to get some sleep back, I can do that without feeling like I'm really missing out and going to fall behind again.
The latest challenge for me right now though is that I have lots of ideas for posts or things that I want to write about.. and then I forget to write them down :D. What the hell?!!
I know that it's not really that big of a problem and it can easily be rectified. I think what I should probably do on my phone is get a note started so that I can get some things down for an upcoming post while it's in my head. I know that I've thought of some Leo posts that I'd like to write but on my night that I am writing this, I forgot what the Leo post was going to be about! Damn, that's annoying. I thought of it earlier in the day and immediately said "I need to write that down for Hive!" and I didn't write it down of course hahaha.
In the past I would normally open up my browser on my phone and open up a draft to jot a few words down and save it. With moving all of my Hive activity into the Keychain app, I tend to be able to do that less because I have to enter my pin to unlock the app. It's definitely first-world problems, because I know there are far worse things to have to experience but this small barrier seems to annoy me when it comes to my writing. I know that it's a crucial step to secure my phone and keep my keys and account tokens safe and free from the wrong hands.
So instead of failing to do that piece, I know that I'll have to commit myself to just open my damn notes app when I get a post idea and keep that as a running list. It's super easy and it's something I do for all kinds of other things in my life such as work and others. Have something to do? Open a note and write it down! The lessons that we learn are often the ones that don't stick until we have to make them. I didn't lose anything that valuable in the grand scheme, but I've got so many ideas floating around up top that I know I need to transpose as many of them as I can, so that I can get the content written and scheduled!
This also has been a significant help for my mental catharsis. When I'm not able to write posts about things that are going on in my head, I tend to get all discombobulated and scattered with some of my thoughts. I think it's one of those very interesting scenarios that is unexpected! When you're flexing a muscle like I have been, on the writing and creativity side, it wants to be flexed and if you don't do it, it atrophies and that's not good! I know that writing for me also helps me sleep I think, because it helps calm me down after a day at work.
There are certainly a number of reasons and ways that I can get back to writing a lot of the ideas that come into my head, I just need to get in the habit of implementing that and things will move forward from there!

This might not work for you if the act of inputting your code is enough to stop you from using the keychain app on your phone, but what I do is make an event for myself in calendar. Then I get a notice about doing it at some point, AND it winds up in my email later, and that's two opportunities to remember that I wanted to do or write something...of course a lot of my projects are things that I want 4 free hours to sit down and devote to it. and I just never have 4 straight hours to do something. c'est la vie.
Haha that's awesome I usually do that for work, throw a calendar invite on for something I need to do on Monday. By Thursday I usually get to it lol
The note on my phone has accumulated 5 posts from the weekend so far which is good! I wonder what ones will get turned into actual posts.

Ironically I'm too forgetful to forget to jot down post ideas.
They come to me and if I don't note them become lost forever, so i just have a habit of having dozens of back burner posts. the file that i use is currently 137 KB... all text lol. It would take hours to even read them all let alone organize them.
Lol that's awesome. My back burner note already has 5 posts on it! I wonder what ones will make it into a post. I've also got a number of posts sitting in draft on PeakD that might make it into one. I just started writing one on Saturday that was drafted may 3rd lol
It sounds like you're doing a great job of improving your writing and getting posts published more regularly. It's understandable that you're frustrated when you forget to write down ideas that you have, but it sounds like you have a plan to fix that. I think it's a great idea to keep a running list of ideas in your notes app. That way, you can easily access them when you're ready to start writing.
I can definitely relate to the feeling of mental catharsis that comes from writing. When I'm able to write about things that are on my mind, it helps me to process my thoughts and feelings. It also helps me to sleep better at night.
Yeah for sure man, I love being able to write at night and the added benefit to sleeping that it helps me achieve with my brain. Cleans things up!
I've actually been able to publish 2 out of the 5 ideas that were sitting there in the note app which is great for me. Now to get to the others as I can, and also adding to the app so things are constantly coming in and going out.
I’m glad that you’re able to do some mental cleanup from writing as well, that’s important!
It's very good the way you are saying that you learn nothing everyday. A wise person is also one who learns new things from his daily and from tomorrow and applies them in his future. It applies to life the way you are posting daily now and trying to make this thing regular is very good.
Yeah being able to regularly post is important for me. It cleans the mind and helps me get some exercise mentally which is good!
Yeah you are absolutely right.
Personally I don't draft anything. Maybe drafting will help my writing but the problem is that once I started a draft I will open it again to work on it but the next time I get to it, it goes to the bin. I quickly develop doubts and misgivings about what I wrote and dump it.
Yeah I used to have that challenge lol. Now I draft things constantly and come back to them eventually. I've got some posts sitting from months ago I haven't fully finished yet. One day!
That's why I have a Samsung Note. It's literally a note in every sense, with the large screen and embedded stylus.
Anytime an idea pops up, I swipe out my Note pen from my phone and scribble away. I have hundreds of notes that I can always come back to and reorganise at the end of the day or week.
That’s great! I’m getting better at jotting notes down lol. I haven’t had any the last few days that made me think “that has to be a post!” But I have updated it a few times last week!
