Foggy Wednesday Beach Walk
Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to share some pictures of the beautiful and dreary foggy beach trip we had!
Foggy Wednesday Beach Walk
The weather has been a strange one around here lately that's for sure! We've had a lot of rain, a lot of clouds and not a significant amount of sun. That's not been too bad in the grand scheme of things, that's for sure but one of the things that it's meant is that we are going a little stir crazy in the house! Last summer we were constantly at the beach and this summer we haven't really been there too much. We decided that we need to try and make up for that however we can!
The beach trip we decided to make was on a day that it was a bit of a split when it comes to the weather. At home it had a 80% chance of rain and it was going to be heavy rain. At the beach though, it was about 30% chance of rain and it would be a light rain. We said fuck it, let's try our luck and see how it goes! Can't be any worse than being home!
When we pulled around the corner on the road just before the beach, we saw this giant wall of fog rolling in! It was nuts! We knew that we were in for quite a different beach day than we had planned but we made the most of it. When we are at this beach, one of the things that we prefer far and beyond is hanging out in the rocks and hunting for crabs and shit. As long as it's not raining, a little fog ain't gonna rain on our parade that's for sure! :D
The fog did look really cool though, almost like a wall rolling on by and making it look pretty dramatic versus what it normally looks like! The visibility was about 150 feet or so, which is cool because it's most often a lot further than that like a couple miles. That fog is like a nice warm blanket, it encompasses it all!
The fog gave me a nice opportunity to get some different types of pictures! One of the things I would like to try and get into a little more is some macro-esque photography. I don't have a macro camera per-se but my phone does a pretty damn good job of it! I'm able to get fairly close to things and get some cool snaps like this. I'm sure there are additional settings I can monkey around with to adjust it so that I get a better view and I will eventually figure that out but for most of these, it's just a snap and shoot and see what happens. I love seeing the periwinkles all over the rocks, even if they make it a bit difficult to walk around on the rocks without slipping and crushing them haha. They get right under your foot and when you step on them, they give up from the rock and roll and so does your foot sometimes! It's a fun hazard though, because the reward for being in the rocks are some cool crabs!
The reflection off the water and the rocks like this though was really cool. I loved getting the grey and muted clouds with the fog, and that water being like a sheet of glass was nice. I think the small tide pools like this are one of my favorite areas to be, because the water is a bit warmer versus the normal cooler temperatures and there are often times many critters running around in them! We came at the right time of year because the hermit crabs are finally crawling back. In the early springtime, there are no hermit crabs which makes for less critters that you're able to find. With the advent of summertime though, the crabs come floating on back!
The great benefit of the fog and muted clouds covering the sun was that the beach was far less populated than it normally is! I don't necessarily mind when there are a bunch of people at the beach but when the beach is packed, that means that parking is a real pain in the ass. I want folks to enjoy the beach in their own right, but at the same time save some damn parking for the rest of us LOL. We try to always get to the beach before 1030 AM as long as the tide is low, and sometimes it works out great but other times the damn place is packed!
This beach is one of the best ones when it comes to parking but we went a few weeks ago on a sunny day and everyone else must have been stir crazy and pissed about all the rain as well. There wasn't a parking spot in sight haha. With the fog here though, that pushed a number of people away which is fine with us! :D We got a nice close parking spot to our favorite area and the little man and I were off to the races to get some crabbing done!

LOve the snails and the mood the foggy day gives on the beach
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
Yeah I'll take the sun though, after the weather we’ve had here of late lol. The snails are great, everywhere and them some when you are among the rocks lol
yeah me to :)
have a great day
Those are some pretty cool pics. personally, I love dreary weather for road trips and destinations; I think it's much more exciting.
Eh I don't love dreary weather myself lol but that's just me. we had dreary weather when we were in the Carolina's and ya it was good to not get burned by the sun but at the same time I needed some sun lol. I don't mind going somewhere fairly local with the weather and fog like this though! Makes for some wild pictures!
In summer when this kind of weather happens, it is very nice to see the way we are seeing these big stones are looking very beautiful, seeing natural things makes the heart happy.
