Foggy Monochrome Monday
Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to share some pictures of the fog that we experienced the other day at the beach!
Foggy Monochrome Monday
Fog is one of those things at the beach that some people really hate. For us though, we absolutely love it! It's such an incredibly different experience that we revel in it.
One of our favorite beaches the other day had good weather at it. We certainly enjoy going here when it's sunny and hot but this was a day that it was rainy at home but for whatever reason at the beach, it wasn't raining! We jumped at the chance to spend some time hanging out at the beach and doing some crab hunting.
The summer so far really hasn't had a whole lot of weekend days where it's been good to get out and enjoy the sunshine. It's been a lot of rain which is okay in many cases but when you're getting stir crazy, it's not so good! We looked at the forecast, saw rain at home but also looked at the beach and said screw it, let's give it a try! 30% chance of rain is better than 100% chance of rain lol
The beach with the fog plus turning the pictures into black and white has been such a cool experience! I love the way the fog looks, further toned down on the color with the black and white edit. It's got such a dreary and depressing look to it, reminding me of something out of a horror movie or something. It was actually a very comfortable day too, nice temperature and no wind. The fog just makes it look horrible and depressing hahaha.
I didn't get a picture of it but when we first got there, the fog was rolling around like a thick blanket. It was a really incredible sight! I wish I got a picture of it but that was when we were driving up, so I didn't get a chance to and by the time we got down to the rocks, it was not really visible but it still is a dramatic scene of sorts.
The fog was also crazy because it was really thick! We came here once last year when it was similar and the fog last year I think was actually thicker than this one, you could only see about 30 feet in front of you which is crazy. The visual field here is about 150 feet or so, which is pretty good but considering what it normally is, makes it look really interesting!
I've been enjoying the way there are different picture editing modes, where you can make a picture look a bit darker in some areas and lighter in others. I used one of them and it made the rocks a touch darker which was cool!
I wonder what other adventures we will get up to so that I can get another few pictures for some black and white fun!

I live at the coast and fog is something we have too much of, especially in the the change of season between cold and hot weather. It makes for awesome picture taking doesn't it?
Yeah the picture taking in fog is pretty dramatic man! I'm glad you live near the ocean though, that's good. Fresher air when you do!
Good results in the edits man, for sure that fog was really interesting for photography, you got nice photos from it
Thanks! I've come to really enjoy the GIMP software and the capability it has. It has some limitations like ease of use compared to Adobe but I don't mind. It's open source and awesome stuff'
Wao great and impressive black and white pictures. When the images are converted within this technology, they become more beautiful, the way we see that the images you have shown are so amazing.
Thanks man! The edit was fun to see it transform into something dramatic!
Most welcome
