Happy new month guys, congratulations to everyone that made it past the first half of 2023, I hope what sustained us would also sustain us past this second half and beyond. Also, extra congratulations to those who started a new life on this month after ending their old short life in momma's womb, including myself. 😁

We Just Got Even More Evidence That Octopuses Dream, And It Looks Really Beautiful

Actually, it's not certain if it's "really beautiful" but it's likely that they are dreaming - sorry, I mean octopuses. 😁
Have you ever wondered why we dream in the first place ?

I have and i also have a theory for why but that would be a discussion for another time. Dreams are still a mystery even till now, scientists still don't really understand it. It was once thought to be only experienced by we humans but as science is progressing, it appears that it is prevalent in the kingdom of animals and it could even go beyond.
Last week we presented a report of the possibility of birds dreaming, today we have another and it's with regards to octopuses........keep reading to find out more. I wonder if they can also imagine too, not necessarily like us 🤔or am I taking things too far ? 😁

‘Mind-boggling’ palm that flowers and fruits underground thrills scientists

Most of us are familiar with plants that bears flowers and that these plants usually have their flowers above the ground. In some plants, these flowers are necessary to produce fruits - through pollination.
However, must a plant always have it's flowers above the ground ?
It should most likely be a yes and for a lot of reasons, for example it's more easier for pollination to take place - everyone (including animals) can see it, making it easier to access. This is why you see most plants having flowers above the ground but there are few exceptions - flowers and fruits growing under the ground. This report presents us with one of such plant and it baffles scientists. Do you know why ?

Is math real? The answer has major practical and philosophical implications

Some of us love maths but some of us also don't. The reason why some of us don't love it I can't really say but whether we love it or not, it's here to stay and perhaps, the question we should be asking is why it exists in the first place, did we invent it or is it inherently a part of our physical reality ?
Even those of us that don't like it still can't do without it - a very simple fact. Perhaps, the answer to the question of math being real or not may lie in the existence of aliens(extraterrestrials).
What does the existence of aliens got to do with math's existence ? - you maybe asking

Interesting question, i guess you would need to find out here. I wonder, how would you tell an alien to pass you the cup in the language of mathematics ? - asking for a friend 👀

Scientists Finally Found the Gravitational Wave Background, Ushering in Astronomy 2.0

Our universe is filled with radiations called the cosmic background radiations and are mostly electromagnetic in nature, they help us understand the universe as a collective/whole, not as individual parts. Cosmic radiations such as the CMBR (cosmic microwave background radiation) helps us understand our universe's origin and the distribution of matter in our universe at large. As a matter of fact, cosmic observations relies heavily on non-gravitational waves, especially electromagnetic waves and this constitutes what can be classified as astronomy 1.0.
Ever since the prediction and empirical discovery of gravitational waves, there have been theoretical proposals of our universe also being filled with gravitational waves, a term referred to as the "gravitational wave background" and scientists have been searching for it for years.
In this report, they seem to have recently discovered it and it could be very monumental for the future of astronomy.
