My grandmother always told me when I was a young teenager: no matter who you are in this view, at the end of our time we will all have to die.

A very frank phrase which however has a profound and sad truth. Knowing this, each of us must live his life in the best way possible, following his own passions and instincts. Being a mafia boss is a choice, dictated by power and also by the context in which people are born. It is not easy for a child to be born into a family where everyone disdains the rules and cultivates hatred for the institutions.

These children, without the help of the good community and institutions, are unlikely to grow up to be respectful children towards the world in which they live. Unfortunately it is a great defeat for society and a direct cost for the State. In fact, more police officers, more lawyers, more technological tools available for investigations, more prisons will be needed.

Intervening today in the most difficult neighborhoods of the city would offer more life hope for children who live in a difficult family context, investing in their future and guiding them into the world of honest work. The State will gain from this investment as soon as the children start working, also guaranteeing a better future rather than a probable premature death on the streets.

Each of us is the creator of his life, but not everyone is able to decide this.

Mia nonna mi ha sempre detto quando ero un giovane adolescente: non importa chi sei in questa vista, alla fine del nostro tempo tutti dovremo morire.

Una frase molto schietta che però ha una profonda e triste verità. Sapendo ciò, ognuno di noi deve vivere la sua vita nel miglior modo possibile, seguendo le proprie passioni e i propri istinti. Essere un boss della mafia è una scelta, dettata dal potere e anche dal contesto in cui le persone nascono. Non è semplice per un bambino nascere in una famiglia in cui tutti disdegnano le regole e coltivano l'odio per le istituzioni.

Difficilmente questi bambini, senza l'aiuto della comunità per bene e delle istituzioni, saranno da grandi dei ragazzi rispettosi nei confronti del mondo in cui vivono. Purtroppo è una grande sconfitta per la società ed un costo diretto per lo Stato. Saranno infatti necessari più agenti di polizia, più avvocati, più strumenti tecnologici a disposizione per le indagini, più prigioni.

Intervenire oggi nei quartieri più difficili delle città, offrirebbe più speranza di vita per i ragazzi che vivono in un contesto famigliare difficile, investendo sul loro futuro e guidandoli al mondo del lavoro onesto. Lo Stato guadagnerà da questo investimento non appena i ragazzi inizieranno a lavorare, garantendo inoltre un futuro migliore piuttosto che una probabile morte prematura per le strade.

Ognuno di noi è artefice della sua vita, ma non tutti sono in grado di deciderlo.
