Respect for the environment is not only a moral duty but a sense of belonging to the place where we live. Unfortunately, these are phrases that leave the time they find in an increasingly consumerist and uncaring society towards others and the environment around us. The will to transgress has become a constant part of our lives and respect has never touched such a low point.

An example is what happens every time I go to free beaches, where cleanliness is generally lacking and incivility predominates. Indiscriminately, adults and children make the same serious mistake of abandoning any type of waste in the place where they have spent part of their time. And here then that where previously there was a group of people there are now empty glass bottles, cards, cigarette packets, plastics of all types and shapes (especially bottles and wrappers). Not to mention the infinite number of cigarette butts scattered everywhere.

These places, among other things, are the same ones where they will return the next day to spend another day at the beach, and maybe they are the same people who will complain about the dirt.

I often get very angry about all this because I really hate seeing this state of disinterest of people towards nature or the place where I myself frequent. So often, my wife and I collect this waste here and there and place it in the appropriate containers. We teach our son to never leave anything abandoned and we involve him in minimal cleaning operations, usually he is the one in charge of the waste bucket.

Education and respect for the environment, as well as for people, starts from the examples of parents. We all need to do more to improve the world we live in.

Il rispetto dell'ambiente non è solo un dovere morale ma un senso di appartenenza al luogo in cui viviamo. Sono purtroppo frasi che lasciano il tempo che trovano in una società sempre più consumista e menefreghista verso gli altri e l'ambiente che ci circonda. La volontà di trasgredire è diventata parte costante della nostra vita ed il rispetto non ha mai toccato un punto così basso.

Un esempio è ciò che accade ogni volta che mi reco nelle spiagge libere, dove la pulizia generalmente latita e l'inciviltà invece predomina. Indistintamente adulti e ragazzi commettono lo stesso grave errore di abbandonare qualsiasi tipo di rifiuti nel luogo in cui hanno trascorso parte del loro tempo. Ed ecco qui allora che laddove in precedenza vi era un gruppo di persone ora vi sono bottiglie vuote di vetro, carte, pacchetti di sigarette, plastiche di ogni tipo e forma (soprattutto bottiglie e involucri). Per non parlare dell'infinito numero di cicche di sigarette sparse ovunque.

Questi luoghi, tra l'altro, sono gli stessi dove il giorno dopo torneranno per trascorrere un'altra giornata di mare, e magari sono le stesse persone che si lamenteranno della sporcizia.

Mi sale spesso una gran rabbia per tutto ciò perché odio davvero vedere questo stato di disinteresse della gente verso la natura o il luogo in cui io stesso frequento. Così spesso, io e mia moglie raccogliamo qua e là questi rifiuti e li conferiamo negli appositi contenitori. Insegnamo a nostro figlio a non lasciare mai nulla abbandonato e lo coinvolgiamo nelle minime operazioni di pulizia, solitamente lui è l'addetto al secchiello porta rifiuti.

L'educazione e il rispetto all'ambiente, oltre che alle persone, parte dagli esempi dei genitori. Dobbiamo impegnarci di più tutt quanti per migliorare il mondo in cui viviamo.
