The selected authors share their passion through stories and photos, for their favourite black liquid gold, commonly called coffee, and some special meals that complimented it.

Theatre Café, London

"Such a cool Space
This was the best way to end up today's photography walk around London. I have found a different space I wanted to go and share with everyone but (thankfully) it was closed already so I was able to come to the Theatre Cafe instead. Let me tell you that it was the best thing that could have happened today."

Quick Fire Barista Training

"We fired up the Coffee Machine and began the training.
In hindsight, I may have been taking what was meant to be an amusing couple of hours a little too seriously. Beginning of course with a 'deep clean' of the equipment. Because after all, can you truly understand the equipment you are working with before you have made it shine like new?"

The Devil May Care

"My good man," I said with a polite clearing of my throat. "That's an affogato."
He looked up in puzzlement, his face contorting as if Beyonce was twisting his nipples whilst singing, if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it, and said, "but...but you always have a flat white."
I gave him my best devil may care impersonation, smirked grimaced a little more widely, and simply said, "some rules are meant to be broken, my good man," before sauntering back to my booth like James Bond after meaningless sex with someone he met only minutes before."

A Cup of Coffee Latte at the End of January

"I enjoyed the moment of a cup of caffee latte that I was sipping slowly. The taste of espresso mixed with fresh milk makes a different dimension in my mouth. Caffe Lattee is made in a 2:1 ratio, meaning that every 2ml of fresh milk is compared to 1ml of espresso, of course the milky taste is stronger. I get a heart-shaped latte art in my coffee and I don't spoil it to the end of my coffee."

"This coffee date is something I’ve been cherishing. I see these dates as a good way to plan our life, strategizing our small business, and thinking about what to come in the future. "It is a large space, with cool decorations and even though it is a large space with high ceilings it feels very cosy. The pop art/american 80's vibe cafe gives it that extra colour and homie vibes that help the place to feel more comfortable."

The Coffee Blog 10 " from bean to cup"

"I never thought it would be soon that I would have to do my research on roasting coffee beans , but I must say it is something I have to start learning now in order to have my own blends and create my own coffee , after I pay of my new coffee machine. I think that is an excitement I guess it would be time to invest in coffee roasting and going back to the roots of the coffee bean to having my own brand of coffee up in my coffee store, and if customers like the coffee they drink I can sell them the beans."

Missing Vietnam

"During the long days of travelling, I made a point of stopping for a Cafe Sua every time that I stopped for fuel. Petrol for the bike, Caffeine for me.
This meant that at the end of the riding day of anywhere between eight and twelve hours, I would usually arrive at my destination more awake than when I had departed in the morning."

So What Has Changed Over The Years?

"This for instance was in 2016 in front of my laptop. My good ole coffee with milk and a bowl of graham cake as my snack. The farm boy and I just came home from overseas and I delved into online marketing then while I did my consulting thingy with the offshore company I worked with. Eager to learn more, I would spend hours reading or watching tutorials online,at least, that's how I remembered those days."

"So, we went to a supermarket a few steps away from her apartment and began to look in the aisles for what we needed and when we got to the coffee shop the only brand available was the one I present in this publication, Santo Domingo, I was not very convinced, but because of the time I could not start touring more places in search of something more familiar to me or my husband."

Observing people and Eavesdropping conversation over coffee

"I listen more than talk. It has always been a habit to pay attention to what was going on. While paying attention to what is happening in our surroundings, I had a good perspective towards life. By observing others, I learn about what are their interests. When I see the genuineness and rawness of people, I usually see and feel the passion for what they are doing. I can see what is most important to them. While eavesdropping is not good, I listen and eavesdrop and appreciate the conversation that I hear around me. I realize that we are enthusiastic about something that we love."

Rooster Coffee. Cats Friendly Coffee Shop

"I chose to sit on a chair that was already owned by a cat, he looked very relaxed sleeping while peeking at the human sitting next to him. I couldn't choose a seat because almost all the seats were full of customers. This cat looks very clean and healthy, his body is also very fat like an air bubble. I asked the waiters, indeed the owner of this coffee shop likes cats and all the cats in this coffee shop are fed and bathed."

"This cafe is actually a letter writing cafe where you can write letters to friends, special someone, parents, siblings, daughter and son or even yourself, actually to anyone you want to write letter to via snail mail while having your cup of favorite coffee. Very nostalgic right?
They serve delicious coffee, fruit juices, baked goods and rice meals too."

Andaliman Coffee And Pandan Flavored Chiffon Cake

"Andaliman is a spice that is widely found in the highlands of North Sumatra, Indonesia. It is usually used to make Batak cuisine, so it is also known as Batak Pepper. Andaman is a clump of oranges containing natural Vitamins C and E which function to maintain the body's immune system.

If it is usually used as a cooking ingredient, this time andaliman is present in the form of coffee, this makes this coffee have a very unique taste."

Breathe: A café moment

"Remember we'd sit here for hours reading, talking and laughing, holding hands sharing special moments, like we were the only people in the world. I'd hoped to find that feeling today and even ordered a coffee in case you decided to drop in. You did not and I feel foolish for doing it now. It sits across from me still, untouched and cold...and I can't breathe."

Why Venezuelean Coffee Has Lost It's Quality

"Before the coffee reaches our hands in the cities this product goes through many processes to be able to enjoy a cup of coffee, first it is collected then it has to be washed after that we have to remove the shell that covers it and finally let it dry to remove all the moisture it brings, until there comes the process of the producer, until the drying of the coffee, after that the coffee is sold like this, a normal grain is dry color without aroma that is sold to distributors for them to sell them to the big cities."

That’s a very special coffee. El Salvador competition coffee is in my cup today

"Papaya, orange, sugar cane and chocolate are in the main tastes and other than the typical chocolate notes, the coffee brings some very fresh fruity flavors making the coffee in my cup very complex and unique. Of course, the beans are lightly roasted, which is always preferred with such exclusive coffees. The more baked the coffee - the less aromas are left. I mean less of the pleasant aromas, which are usually replaced with burnt flavor and some high bitterness."

"The kids were as usual, excited for donuts but interestingly, chose to eat the pon de ring before having the specials. I thought they weren’t that interested in the heart ones but later realized that huzzy and I were lucky to have two left. The kids left the blanche heart ones for us."

Hot Bev Rolls with Eggs

"My hot beverage aka hot Bev was matcha tea 🍵. Since the tea is conveniently sold in a pack, all we needed to do was add hot water. We had it with warm bread rolls which were reheated using our small toaster oven.This was served with a few eggs which were whisked in a container and fried. As I indicated this breakfast was, a quick and easy breakfast on a Saturday morning."

"In actual fact the year was actually 2018, and the location was actually the Titanic suite in the Titanic visitor centre in Belfast. Did you know that the Titanic was built in Belfast, Northern Ireland? Well you do know it now! Just look at these fancies and cakes, don't they make your mouth water? They did mine and boy oh boy they were delicious!"

Coffee Diaries

"I remember my grandfather used to wake up at 3 in the morning and heat some water for coffee. I was like 6 years old at that time. My grandmother will prepare breakfast for all of us cousins. My parents were both working during the day and I stayed at my grandparent's house until they're back home in the afternoon. Bringing me back to the good old days. Some of the most amazing conversations and laughter with them were over coffee."

"We ordered the same coffee. My friend likes “metrio” coffee. It means that coffee has a little of sugar. But, my order is always the same - without sugar because I love the smell and taste of pure frappe. We really enjoyed the moment and filled this morning with best feeling of peace. "The first thing that Agus Ginting showed me was the furniture. Chairs and coffee tables in this coffee shop, made by Agus Ginting. Of course according to the owner want. The chairs and tables are nice, neatly made. Although it looks simple but prioritizes strength and durability. The coffee shop counter is also very good. Looks elegant with a minimalist and simple design."

"The weather is cold and has been raining constantly for the last couple of weeks, so there has been no chance of outings. As a result, it feels good to curl up in bed with a mug of coffee, some of my favorite snacks, one of my favorite books, and some good music. It is pure bliss."

"I am still working on my swan pattern but i feel my milk jug is holding me back. I do have to get a new one as i have been using this one for 2 years since I opened my shop. So it is definitely a piece of sentimental value the shop as it has made over 4000 cups of coffee i will say."
