11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month
We observed Remembrance Day at work today. I'm sure most or some of us here understand what it means, but if you aren't sure what it is, please feel free to keep reading because I'll try to share details and hope it does justice. Nevertheless, I am open to correction because I may have said anything incorrectly or overlooked some key aspects.
What is REMEMBRANCE DAY?
Since the end of World War I, members of the Commonwealth have marked Remembrance Day to honour all those who fought and died in the line of duty to keep us free. A minute's silence is held and attributed to those soldiers who died fighting to protect the country and its people on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
Brunei, as a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, observes this day as well. It isn't a public holiday here, as it is in several other nations, but it is a yearly event at work. To be honest, I was oblivious to such a thing until I started working here in Brunei. As shown in my photos, our students made posters, drew poppies, and engaged in numerous arts and crafts activities. There will then be a location to post these so that everyone is reminded of them. We can even purchase a $1 paper poppy flower to wear!
Why the Red Poppies?
The beautiful red poppies are used to remember those who have fallen in battle since they are the flowers that blossomed on the battlefields following World War 1. It represents not just remembrance, but hope, and peace as well.
How about you dearest Hivers most especially here @asean.hive, Do you somehow observe Remembrance Day too?
Thank you for Reading and wishing everyone here a wonderful weekend!

ang cool di ba. 11.11.11. hehe
We don't celebrate that here as far as I know but maybe in the future who knows? Dami natin inaadopt na mga practices e hehe.
Dito ko na lang din nakilala ang Remembrance Day kabsat. 😊
For decades the event was called "Armistice Day" in the United States. It is now called Veterans Day. Since the peace treatises ended a World War, it is celebrated in many nations.
