Earnings Since Switching To Brave Browser
I switched over to the Brave browser 4 years ago and I have to say it's been an upgrade on the Safari, Chrome and Firefox, but we're not completely out of the water. It's still very much a Chrome product, with a few bells and whistles.
I do appreciate the ad blocker the most, it's been great for both websites and social media where i've set up custom blockers so I hardly see an ad on the internet
If sites prompt me to remove my blocker I leave, lol you're not getting my eye balls I am sorry. So it has been a vast improvement on my experience on the web, for both my desktop and mobile browsing experience.
TALK ABOUT THE MONEY????
But that's not what you want to hear about, you want to hear about how much you can earn using Brave, well I don't think that's much, if we look at it. I have been fortunate, having used it for four years so I am sure I got more tokens than most people using Brave.
Year | Earning (BAT) | USD |
---|---|---|
2019 | 44,03181906 | $30.8 |
2020 | 335,7732741 | $235 |
2021 | 65,3815 | $45.76 |
2022 | 6,8655 | $4.80 |
- Total: 452,0520932 BAT
- Value in USD: 452,0520932 x $0.705344 = $316
- Value in Sats: 452,0520932 X 1780 sats = BTC 0.00804560
If we exclude the $4.80 I made this year and divide by 36 months, then my average monthly return for using Brave is $8.60 hardly worth running home to but I guess it's better than nothing.
Brave rewards are KYC and overly complex
Earning BAT, many people I've seen would send it to a site like Celsius to try and earn interest, but that became harder as BAT uses Ethereum so unless you've earned a sizable amount it's a waste of time.
I do like the Brave model I just don't like the token, think how much easier it would have been if they just added lightning and liquid support and started running ads that way.
I am sure what I earned in fiat would have been worth far more if they did.
What's also a bit of a bother for me is to redeem your rewards it has to go through a service like Uphold where you need to KYC and dox yourself to pick up a few pennies. If Brave is about privacy then why do we need to do this?
Soon to be moving on
I have to say I have not seen much in terms of improving the product, and once Impervious launches I think I will be moving over to it.
Have your say

That's never made sense to me either.
I've not heard of impervious so will be looking out for more posts on that. 😁

Especially when there are things like lightning and liquid that would make more sense for their product or even a stablecoin
You can check out a demo from the bitcoin 2022 conference it looks good.
Glad i am not the only one!!! Lol

I installed Brave to see how it works. I got rewards for the first several months then the spigot stopped after about $10.
My guess is that I am not in the demographics that they see as profitable.
I use Firefox as my primary browser. I don't mind the ads as ads are pretty much the only avenue of revenue for independent web sites.

Success! You mined .9 HBIT & the user you replied to received .1 HBIT on your behalf. mine | wallet | market | tools | discord | community | <><
What's HBIT?
Lol yeah I wouldn't count on brave ads for most people I think it was just a gimmick to keep you using the browser in the beginning which I think worked since I'm still here despite fewer and fewer rewards
I use different browsers for different HIVE accounts ... which is the main reason that I installed Brave.
The amusing thing about Brave is that they block ads while selling ads. It takes a certain amount of hubris to do things like that with a straight face. Of course, Brave uses a self-righteous face which is easy to feign than a straight face.
BTW: A large number of sites used rewards for clicks. Goto.com paid out a decent amount of cash for about a year. Mypoints gave out points well before crypto. They all give up because pay for click leads to low value traffic.
It looks like it isn't just me where BAT earnings started falling off the cliff. I still use Brave but I think I will also swap to a different browser when better options appear.

I hope the competition will be good, they seem to have just sat on their arse since launch, sure they launched brave chat, but who is even using that? I do like brave search and hope they do something more with that, we need more search engines
Yea they seem to be just adding in more separate things that already exist. I am not really sure if having an in-built crypto wallet is something I would use either.

Dear @chekohler , Did you say that Impervious is better than Brave?
Impervious hasn't launched with a public version yet, so we won't know until then
Thank you for your advice! 😄
I have been using Brave since 2020 and I'm mostly happy with it. I haven't bothered to redeem my rewards though so I didn't know about KYC. Agree, that makes no sense.
I still use Chrome as a 'backup' browser though since I'm experiencing some issues with Brave sometimes.
I haven't heard of Impervious, I'll look into that, thanks 🙂
It leaves me wondering do they want to make a good product or just want to create half a product and profit from the accounting tricks of having a token instead distracting you from improving your service
I still have my chrome, hardly boot up safari lol, I saw Impervious debut at bitcoin 2022 and it really looks good
I can relate to sending BAT to Celsius, a move which made no sense after realizing ETH gas fees.
I normally just swap it out on Uphold for XPR, then out to Binance for what ever I want to sell for.
Ture the Uphold thing really don't make sense if decentralized web browsing is really the goal.
The rewards so far are not great but they add up here and there for investing is second layer tokens on Hive.
Congrats on beating me last night by the way!

Lol all I did was swapped it for bitcoin and added it to my lightning wallet I only did it once because the amount is so small
lol you mean gamble on tokens no HE token makes money
Lol what a game I don’t get how we can beat chelsea after losing 3 in a row against mid table teams
Lol there are some on there what grabbing, definitely not SPORTS but the likes of DEC, SPS for me helps me towards building my Splinterlands deck.
I have not been watching the games in a while, I don't even know Chelsea or Arsenal's standings on the log.
I caught the last 20 minutes of the game and I told myself its a waste of my time for watching my team lose. You know when it comes to derby these teams gets to remember they are playing to win.

Lol yeah but thats not investing thats gaming, you're just having fun with it, it's not an investment, both DEC and SPS have lost 80+ of its value lol
Lol, fun with a potential to regain value don't you think?

Nope

I have also been using brave for around four years. Loved the concept of being paid for my attention and blocking out all the noise.
The KYC is nonsense and so I just forgot about the earnings. Now I don't seem to have ads pop up and don't seem to be earning anything but as an ad blocker it is still great. I most check out Impervious.
I think it was a good stepping stone but like many things that launched in 2017, it quickly got stale and now limps along. Tthe KYC is so annoying esp for so little money why must i KYC for $10 its dumb
I have Brave and Chrome (for some web apps that don't run in Brave).
Wow $235!
Lol probably when they were subsidising it to get people in, looks like those days are long gone, but I'm glad I got the pump :)
I signed up on Brave browser a long time ago too. And, uae it but sadly i dont think i am doing what i need to to get BAT. :(
#learningcurves take so much persistance! I keep procrastinating doing the thing. Ugg!!!! Lol smh :) #cryptolife

I think you need to enable them on each device you use, it's not set up by default and you need to set the frequency which I set to max so I could see how much I could pull out of the app
Ohhh, good to know. TY.
Ohhh, good to know. TY.
Oh cool I need to look up impervious I haven’t heard of that yet.
I’ve made a decent chunk of change on BAT rewards however I am almost at the point where I’m kind of finished with it. I don’t use ads on my phone anymore but I do on my laptop. The token is a bit of a pain and you don’t earn much so I’m trying to consolidate the number of exchanges that I’ve done the dumb KYC stuff for. Thankfully it’s not many but it’s more than I would like at this point.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yeah me too, I've deleted all my KYC exchange accounts, I just have 1 local one left that I use, been buying non-kyc via HODLHODL of late, a little more pricy but worth it in my opinion.
"my average monthly return for using Brave is $8.60 "
That is an awesome return, I have only been using it for a little over a year and like you, I have made it my default browser on all my devices. Although sadly I did not track my earnings as you did but will going forward.
I think we should all focus on the apps and sites that pay us and forget about the rest.
!CTP
I didn’t track it actively I just pulled the report from uphold and then did the calculations from there! They track everything for you
Wow thank you for the info, and I am embarrassed that I did not think of that on my own lol
