Thai Youth Band called "SuckSeed"
Hello dear music lovers around the world! How are you doing? Hopefully you are all doing amazing! Don't forget to keep listening to music wherever you are and anytime! :) It feels great to be able to travel the world with music, from many countries in the West, or even Asia such as Japan, Thailand, India and even my home country Indonesia. We can all get to know music and songs from various countries and that's very interesting, isn't it?
This time I will invite you to travel again to Thailand and enjoy the music. This is quite interesting because I took cool songs from an old but quite popular film called Suckseed. Hmmm, have you heard of this or even seen this film? This is not just usual film, it not only presents a spectacle of youth drama and conflict, but this film is also about a musical in it. There are many songs that are so good for us to just miss.
A funny absurd comedy, an interesting storyline can be a special attraction for watching it. The film that was booming at the beginning of 2011 was the film Suckseed, where this film itself has a strong nuance about Thai teenagers at that time who were very fond of bands. Basically, the film tells the story of the journey of a band whose goal was to attract girls, but ironically Koong (Pachara Chirathivat) and Ex (Thawat Pornrattanaprasert) failed to attract the girl they were targeting. Only Ped (Jirayu) managed to get it, even though he had to be willing to sacrifice his friendship with Kong. It feels relatable because typical teenagers who form bands are just aiming for popularity among the girls at their school.
Coupled with music that is pleasant to listen to even though the lyrics feel strange to the ears, so without realizing it we have watched the film for almost 2 hours. In this film, it tells the story of Ped, who is a shy elementary school student who falls in love with Ern, his classmate, when Ped witnesses Ern singing at a music performance, and at that time Ped tries to record a song for Ern to express his love for her. Asked Koong to teach him to play guitar so that the recording was finished before Ern moved to Bangkok, but after the recording was finished, Ped didn't have time to give him the recording until Ern had moved to Bangkok.
Time passed when Ped was already a senior high school student, unexpectedly, Ern (Nattasha Nauljam) she has ability to play the guitar which is the result of her father's upbringing. She also went to the same school where Ped and Koong went to school, where at that time they wanted to create a band aimed at attracting the hearts of the girls in their high school. The band included Koong as the vocalist and guitar, then Ped plays bassist and also new named Ex, friend’s Ped and Koong as Drummer.
After the first concert which could be said to have failed and made them the butt of jokes at school, they finally included Ern in the band which made them confident in their current band. Investigating further, it turns out that Koong has feelings for Ern, even though Ped still has the same feelings as when he was in elementary school, but Ped is embarrassed to show it and express it to Ern and he is also thinking about what he should choose, his feelings for Ern or his friendship who has the progress of the band.
Aof Big Ass - Toom Yoo Nai Jai (Deep In My Heart)
Acoustic cover by Kao (Ped) with Nat (Ern). The video clip is ouch... The two of them are intimate and look really good together if they were really dating (even though Nat is 3 years older than Kao).
The final part of the scene, after Koong & Ped get better, then Ped, Koong, Ex, and also Ern perform with an audience of men, women, and small children at an event.
No More Tears - Pleng Tee Chun Mai Dai Tang (I Had Composed The Song)
Ped's diary writing, his heart's words for Ern were then made into a song and sung by Arena (with Ern) at the Hotwave Music Award event. (Original version). This is mu most favorite song in the movie, the music is very easy listening. It can be slow version and rock version.
Paradox - Sukseed Tueng (Seed Wash Water)
The song is Ped, Koong, and Ex (SuckSeed) band. (Original version). I think this song is the winner in the film Suckseed, the tune is funny and easy to remember and the Thai language is cute, the music is cheerful and makes one song that is upbeat and cool. This song is very suitable to be the face of the soundtrack for the comedy film Suckseed.
So Cool – Lieng Song (Farewall Party)
When Ped, Koong, and Ex were drunk, crying, heartbroken, Ex even vomited and sang this song noisily on the train. I think this is the coolest song because the song feels loud, but in the scenes in this film they are sad and crying together.
Silly Fools – Pieng Ruk (Just Love)
The song was sung by Kay's band (Kay is Koong's twin brother), The Arena, with the vocalist still Tem, when Ped, Ern and Koong watched an art performance together, after that night Koong intended to express love to Ern. I think this song is fit for anyone who wants to express love.
Paradox – Ruduron (Summer)
The beginning of the final year semester, the song at the senior party night, Ped & Koong watched. Kay is an additional guitarist for this band. Meanwhile Koong is busy looking for girls, then he sees Ern for the first time.
Tar Paradox – Mee Tae Thur (But She Has)
While Ped, Koong, Ex, and Ern are cleaning up to convert the warehouse at Ex's father's bakery into a small studio. This song's music is quite uplifting when we are busy or sleepy. I think we will be excited to hear this song.
That's all Thai music that I recommend to you music lovers wherever you are. I hope you all like it. Apart from their songs, don't miss watching the film Suckseed so you will get a better feel for the song. I have 1 question for you guys, maybe some of you can answer why this band is called Suckseed? What's the reason? Let me know :)
