LAGUNA CUICOCHA, IMBABURA - ECUADOR [ESP-ENG]

Hello pinmapple friends, this time I invite you to meet with me the Cuicocha lake, located in the province of Imbabura in Ecuador, it was the first time I visited this province, especially its town Cotacachi, which is a magical place from its streets in the downtown, through its restaurants and of course the wonderful lake that is located a few kilometers from the center of Cotacachi, is a place where there is a large community of foreigners for the tranquility and the rich climate of the area.

This lake is located 12 km south-west of Cotacachi and can be reached very easily with the help of a GPS, the lake is also known as Laguna de los Dioses and is well known by local people and by the number of tourists who go to visit it, from there you can go hiking or a boat ride, which I recommend because the tour guides will tell you all the information about the place and you can enjoy an incredible view of the lake and the two islands that protrude from the water.

The Cuicocha lake is formed by an ancient crater that is located at the foot of the Cotacachi Volcano so when you go in the boat through the center of it you can see the bubbles that come out, and the water of the lake comes from the melting of the volcano, the boat ride lasts about 20 minutes and is the best way to know and enjoy this Great Lake.

Around and near the lake you will find restaurants with delicious food and great atmosphere, I was fascinated with the tranquility and peace that is breathed in the lake, definitely a magical place that I recommend you to go if you visit Ecuador. Hola amigos pinmapple, esta vez les invito a conocer conmigo la laguna Cuicocha, ubicada en la provincia de Imbabura de Ecuador, era la primera vez que visitaba esta provincia, especialmente su cantón Cotacachi, el cual es un lugar mágico desde sus calles en pleno centro, pasando por sus restaurantes y por su puesto la maravillosa Laguna que se encuentra a muy pocos kilometros del centro del Cotacachi, es un lugar donde se encuentra una comunidad grande de extranjeros por la tranquilidad y el rico clima de la zona.

Está laguna se encuentra a 12 Km al Sur-Oeste de Cotacachi y puedes llegar muy fácilmente con la ayuda de un GPS, a la laguna también se le conoce como Laguna de los Dioses y es muy conocida por la gente local y por la cantidad de turistas que van a visitarla, desde allí puedes hacer senderismo o un paseo en bote, el cual te lo recomiendo ya que los guías turísticos te cuentan toda la información del lugar además que puedes disfrutar de una vista increíble de laguna así como de los dos islotes que sobresalen del agua.

La laguna Cuicocha esta formada por un antiguo cráter que se encuentra al pie del Volcán Cotacachi por lo tanto cuando pasas en el bote por el centro de la misma se puede observar los burbujas que salen al exterior, ya el agua de la laguna proviene de los deshielos del Volcán, el paseo en bote dura alrededor de 20 minutos y es la mejor manera de conocer y disfrutar de esta grandiosa laguna.

Alrededor y cerca de la laguna encontrarás restaurantes con comida rica y muy bien ambientados, yo quedé fascinado con la tranquilidad y la paz que se respira en la laguna, definitivamente un lugar mágico al cual te recomiendo que vayas si visitas Ecuador.
