Art Journal: "Lunar Glow" | Coffee Painting βποΈ
Greetings, art enthusiasts! How are you there? I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
This coffee painting radiates a joyful sense of serene mystery and tranquility. The delightful variations in coffee strength create a lively depth and atmosphere, beautifully capturing the soft glow of a moonlit night. The playful silhouettes of birds and the distant landscape are rendered with charm, adding a sense of movement and cheer to the scene. The monochromatic palette enhances the enchanting atmosphere, making it a captivating image that showcases the wonder of this unique medium. The rich texture of the coffee brings a delightful warmth to the piece, inviting viewers to bask in its joyful beauty.
I used three types of painting brushes for this piece, and it took me an hour to finish it. For those who are interested in trying this unique medium, you can follow the step-by-step basic methods below.
Materials Needed:
π Watercolor Paper or sketching Paper
π Pencil and Eraser
π Coffee Powder
π 2 small cups ( lighter and darker shades)
π Ruler
π Clean Water
π Rag
π Paper napkin or paper towel
Brushes:
π Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
π Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
π Filbert brush
Note: Keep all the materials ready before you start painting.
Basic Procedure:
β’ Outline or sketch your painting reference.
β’ Paint using a lighter shade of the background by creating a beautiful texture.
β’ On the middle ground, paint the first layer of the subject.
β’ The same procedure with the foreground.
β’ Once the first layer is completely dry, you can proceed to paint with a darker shade of coffee.
β’ Then add details to come alive of your painting. I used a liner brush for the thin details.
Take note: In putting details, you cannot have sharp lines and shapes unless it is completely dry.
