Art Journal: "Golden Hour by the Lake" | Original Coffee Painting βποΈ
Hello, Hiver friends and art enthusiasts! How are you there? I hope you are having a wonderful day.
This painting powerfully demonstrates the remarkable versatility of coffee as an artistic medium. I handily manipulated variations in coffee strength to produce a stunning range of warm brown and golden tones that effectively capture the soft light of the setting sun. The silhouetted trees and the calm lake are rendered with precision, adding significant depth and tranquility to the scene. The overall effect is one of commanding peaceful warmth, showcasing how a simple medium can be transformed into a complex and expressive work of art. The unique texture and depth created by the coffee medium undeniably enhance the paintingβs beauty.
I used three types of painting brushes for this piece, and it took me an hour to finish it. For those who are interested in trying this unique medium, you can follow the step-by-step basic methods below.
Materials Needed:
π Watercolor Paper or sketching Paper
π Pencil and Eraser
π Coffee Powder
π 2 small cups ( lighter and darker shades)
π Ruler
π Clean Water
π Rag
π Paper napkin or paper towel
Brushes:
π Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
π Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
π Filbert brush
Note: Keep all the materials ready before you start painting.
Basic Procedure:
β’ Outline or sketch your painting reference.
β’ Paint using a lighter shade of the background by creating a beautiful texture.
β’ On the middle ground, paint the first layer of the subject.
β’ The same procedure with the foreground.
β’ Once the first layer is completely dry, you can proceed to paint with a darker shade of coffee.
β’ Then add details to come alive of your painting. I used a liner brush for the thin details.
Take note: In putting details, you cannot have sharp lines and shapes unless it is completely dry.
