Art Journal: "Evening Calm" | Coffee Painting βποΈ
Hello, fellow art enthusiasts! I hope youβre all doing well. Today, I created a captivating sunset scenery made of coffee as a medium. I would appreciate it if you take a close look and share your thoughts!
"Evening Calm" is a powerful painting that vividly captures the essence of twilight. Visualize a landscape infused with soft, muted colors as the sun sinks below the horizon. The air is still, and the world stands quiet, exuding a sense of tranquility and stunning beauty.
I used three types of painting brushes for this piece and it took me an hour to finish it. For those who are interested in trying this unique medium, you can follow the basic methods below.
Materials Needed:
π Watercolor Paper or sketching Paper
π Pencil and Eraser
π Coffee Powder
π 2 small cups ( lighter and darker shades)
π Ruler
π Clean Water
π Rag
π Paper napkin or paper towel
Brushes:
π Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
π Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
π Filbert brush
Note: Keep all the materials ready before you start painting.
Basic Procedure:
β’ Outline or sketch your painting reference.
β’ Paint using a lighter shade of the background by creating a beautiful texture.
β’ On the middle ground, paint the first layer of the subject.
β’ The same procedure with the foreground.
β’ Once the first layer is completely dry, you can proceed to paint with a darker shade of coffee.
β’ Then add details to come alive of your painting. I used a liner brush for the thin details.
Take note: In putting details, you cannot have sharp lines and shapes unless it is completely dry.
