Opinions on Town Hall - April 18th
Hello Splinterlands Fam,
Town Hall dates are changed, moved to Mondays. And I also wanted to change the format a little bit. I'll share opinions and a new cover!
I'm quoting from the Original Town Hall Summary.
Matt took the mic and talked for a long time. He seemed very enthusiastic about all he shared with us. He mostly talked about SPS Validators and what they'll add up to the game economy and dynamics.
Bots, farming rewards, multi-accounts, etc.. are ultimately underlying issues with the economy/mechanics of the system
The real issue comes down to the starter/ghost cards
The solution is to still allow starter cards, but each starter card used will reduce earnings
What I understand is they want also bot farmers to upgrade their decks in order to earn rewards, and yes that means the market will get more volume. That's a good thing! But let me say that I know gold bot farmers that have very quality cards and they are already there!
Takeaway: If we can fix the underlying issues, it will increase the rewards for all leagues and be managed by the free market system
If rewards are high and rentals are low, then rentals will increase
If card prices go up, rewards value will go up
That seems like a very promising idea. Hope it works like that and makes the game stronger!
Team is planning on heavily increasing rewards across all tiers/leagues
Higher leagues will have much higher rewards
Champion will have a higher chance to get Gold foil Legendaries for example
Well, that's what we are hoping with the pegged DEC prices the rewards should really go up a little bit, don't you think?
Optimal way to earn rewards will be to play every day on a single account (~30 battles/day)
Sorry but I need to emphasize this again; nobody can play more than bots. So, this doesn't sound that good to me!
Want to tackle brawl issues (structure/rewards)
I think tournament issues are more important than Brawl issues but still that might need a little bit fixing too!
About Bots:
Whole new reward system will force empty accounts to buy/rent cards in order to earn rewards
Since starter cards won't allow earnings anymore
Other changes will incentivize players to aggregate their cards in one account to reach higher league rather than spreading them out across multiple accounts
Ok, I'll try to make some math here. A bot farmer of 30k CP gets let's say 50 DECs a day with one account in Silver III. Has 12 accounts. Total of 360k CP and 600 DECs earnings. 360k takes you up to Diamond II. And you say that a diamond II player earns at least 1.2 times that total, to feel themselves earning more than having 12 accounts. This means they will earn 720 DECs on that league.
I want to check the tables and graphics here on this post. by @lypisz I'll just check the ratios, not the real numbers. If someone has a more recent data please share in the comments.
So upgrading Silver III to Diamond II means a hypothetical 12-15 DECs against 75-90 DECs; nearly 6 times. So you will only get 300 DECs if you move up to Diamond II and combine those accounts.
So you say that the gap between each league's rewards will change so much that going up 7 leagues will give you something like 720/50=14.4 times more DECs. This is the only way that a bot farmer combines everything and moves up. And also that means time to search for new deck alternatives and cards to buy. Also, the players in that high leagues won't be that easy. And I'm not talking about not using the 10$ accounts anymore.
I'm sorry but I want to just wait and see if this works. Because this seems a little bit too good to be a working scenario! Please convince me with some more solid math than that and I'll definitely be on board here!
Employee Asset Transparency:
Team doesn't want to force employees to disclose their accounts/assets if they don't want
Most news is not disclosed internally other than to those who are working on it
Meaning the community and internal team members typically learn about new updates/partnerships at the same time
Additionally, most updates are released to the community as soon as possible, and the team is very transparent with what they are working on and what is to come
That was something people think from time to time, I'm glad that you mentioned and cleared that point out.
