Hello Hive and Intro to my Passion
This is my first post on Hive. I don't really know how it all works, but I am eager to learn. I read an article about Hive and it sounds interesting to me. I am inspired by this idea of a decentralized social community.
I don't know what is expected of posts here. The button said it was time to make my first post and I try to always follow the instructions of random buttons I see on the internet. Yes, I jump off bridges also when others do.
Speaking of buttons, I collect buttons. And beads. Especially beads. I have a large collection of vintage Swarovski crystal beads. Come to think of it, I have a large stash of a lot of vintage stuff, but I am most passionate about the Swarovski crystal beads and pendants.
This is a pair of earrings I made a few years ago using vintage Swarovski crystal pagoda beads in the color Bermuda blue. They look a bit huge in the photo, but they are not. The beads themselves are only 10mm in diameter. For you non-metric folk, that is a little under half an inch (0.394 inches).?

These beads are also known as potato chip beads. They are quite rare. Swarovski did not produce them for long because they were hard to make and had a high number of defects, or so the rumor goes. The beads were made in the 1950s or 1960s. What's neat about the pagoda beads (Swarovski 5107) is that they come in Left and Right. I will have to dig them out and string them together to show you soon.
I used sterling silver chandelier earring parts from Bali. Bali has some of the best silversmiths in the world! The lever back earring findings are also sterling silver from Bali.
Here are a couple of closer shots of the earrings. I made these a few years ago and gifted them to a dear friend, so the photo is a little old, unfortunately.

Well, that's my first post, and I hope it is everything it should be.
I have been trying to wrap my head around all the newness, and I hope I get it, at least a little. I look forward to the beauty and inspiration of each new day. This is what I love about vintage beads also. I am inspired by their beauty and depth. I love that while they are beautiful, they are often not perfect, either due to age or manufacturing processes not being performed by lasers. It's a bit ironic I guess that I am on the blockchain talking about how I find solace and loveliness in old, imperfect things.
Much love to you. I hope to learn to know you better!
Hello, @carys! This is @jcrodriguez from @OCD team. We saw that you already posted your first post here in Hive! Congratulations and welcome! However, it would be awesome if you do an introduction post. As a sample of what an intro post is, you can refer to this intro post for reference:
Keeping Up With the Buzz - My Introduction to the Hive Community
There's no specific format on how you do your intro post, but there is some suggested content that we would love to see in your post. Information like who are you and where you're from, how did you discover Hive or who invited you, what types of content you want to see here and the types that you want to produce, and what are your expectations in this platform. There's no pressure on this. You can choose whatever information you would like to share.
You can explore the communities that you may like in this post: OCD Communities Incubation Program. There is a wide variety of topics, you are sure to find the right communities for your content.
You may encounter RC (Resource Credits) issues when trying to comment/post because you don't have enough Hive Power in your account yet. You can fix this with a one week temporary delegation through the Gift Giver Site. Another solution is for the person who recommended Hive to delegate some Hive Power to you.
If you are looking for tips and information as a Hive newbie, click here: newbie guide. They are easy to understand and useful for learning how the platform ecosystem works.
Please be aware that Hive is a bit different from other social media platforms since you are monetizing your blog, so it is important not to include content that you don't own without sources (and it shouldn't exceed 50% of the post). For more information, check this post - Why and How People Abuse and Plagiarise by hivewatchers.
If you have questions or concerns, you can hop into OCD's Discord server and we'll gladly answer your questions.
Lovesniper will follow you and we are looking forward to your intro post!
I hope to see your next posts soon!

Welcome to the Hive. You can pretty much post about anything you want... as long as it's your own content. If you use photos from other people please say it and leave a link to the original. 😉
Thank you for the advice to a newcomer.
You have a thing for buttons, no wonder you were following buttons around here. Nice ear rings by the way
Welcome to Hive, I hope that you will enjoy your stay and that you will bring the beauty and depth that your vintage beads teaches you and share them with us
Thank you.
