ecoTrain QOTW Season 8.6 FINALE: What Prevents Action?

Wow, I am s9 excited that I was opportune to start this season, and luckily, I am going to be writing the finale.

It has indeed been a privilege to be part of this journey so far this season with so many questions asked on the theme ACTION and so far do good, I have gained more information answering these questions and reading from other writers.

I would like to use myself as a case study when answering this question of what prevents people from taking action.

Last year, I began developing feelings for this particular guy, and I was sure he was a good guy and the kind of guy I would want in my life or perhaps take for a relationship but along the line, when he finally wanted us to take our friendship from being just friends to couples, I backed out.

I walked out on him telling him I was not ready, I was not cut out for relationship stuff, and don't think I love him. Now, the truth is, I was actually afraid of being in a relationship because I don't want to be hurt, that was why I backed out.

Fear has stopped millions of people from taking a bold step. It has stopped thousands from taking a lifetime action that could have changed their entire life for good.

Many of us are so afraid of our tomorrow, our future, the result, which I call fear of the unknown, that we have refused to take any action and indeed see what the future has installed for us.

In an abusive relationship, fear of being lonely has made some ladies stay put and decide to accept the physical abuse from their partners.

Even students in schools are all going through this same fear. Fear of making a mockery of, fear of being left behind, and many more. Fear is the number one cause of actions not being taken.

A book of the scriptures wrote; My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Lack of knowledge which we call ignorance has stopped many people from taking actions and most of these people are ignorant of the actions to take concerning
a particular issue but unfortunately many of them because of pride have refused to ask questions from the right source to get information on what action to take that is best for that situation.

They lack the knowledge of what to do and can't even ask people questions to solve the problem.

A student who doesn't understand or know a particular topic is supposed to meet his teacher or perhaps meet one of his classmates to help review with him that particular topic but because of pride refuses to do any of that and just maybe on the examination day, that topic is given because of his lack of knowledge on how to solve or answer that particular topic, he is not going to be taking action that particular subject or topic which will lead to him failing that topic.

I have had business ideas that I was sure to have generated a lot of income for myself, but money is one of the things that is preventing me from taking the action of starting that business.

Not just me, there are thousands out there who have has plans to carry out but unfortunately do not have the resources most especially financially to help them begin their plans preventing them from starting taking action concerning the plans they have.

A few months ago, a young boy was reported by the news dead on the street, it was said that the young boy was returning from church late in the evening of his demise with his keyboard and was attacked by some robbers who tried to get the keyboard. In the process of struggling, he was stabbed to death because he did not want to release the keyboard. After all, it wasn't his own and he knew the gravity of losing the keyboard.

A few days after his burial, an elderly man was said to have seen the scene from his house and also watched when the deceased boy struggled with these armed robbers till he was stabbed. He watched how the deceased struggled with his life after he was stabbed and did nothing to save him or did not deem it fit to at least call the police who would have saved this boy's life. He lay on street and bled to death with no one to help him.

There is this sentence, we all go with " it is not my business, mind your business, what is my concern, after all, he is not my brother, sister, son, father, mother and so on.

Lack of concern for the other person's welfare is making people not take the right action. Because we are not affected, because the person involved is not our family members or close friends we do not see reasons to take action when we see them in danger.

Nowadays, beating and burning people to death who committed a crime by the masses has become the order of the day, and most times, innocent people are burnt to death because nobody was willing to take action to save the situation or perhaps involve the mob because they don't know the person or the person is not related to them. We are not bothered or disturbed by other people's predicament and as such, do not see reasons for taking action when necessary.

These are the few reasons I know have prevented many including myself from taking action when necessary.
