Fungi Friday: Slim pickings this time around until it wasn't.

They can't all be winners is a saying you've might of heard before. Each outing is a fun adventure in itself and if I happen to see any mushrooms my eyes light up.

I was about to call it a day when I noticed this downed tree trunk. This was a somewhat damp day as you can tell by the look of the trunk. Just when you think that it was a bust here they come.

I rushed over to snap the initial scene like some sort of FSI, Fungi Scene Investigator. I was sure no to disturb the scene either as I was taught. This is much easier said than done though.

The end piece of the tree trunk has obviously experienced some trauma. The fungi must have sensed this and started to gather. The wee ones appear to be making their way across the trunk to the end. Something large is attached there.

When in doubt trust the fungi as they know their stuff. A big growth on the end piece here and upon closer inspection my FSI training has determined the tree was cut using a chainsaw. More than likely due to disease as I see this often. This is a perfect breeding ground for mushrooms and fungi though. They love to form in this type of environment.

We peak around to the right and see mushrooms surrounding this monstrous fungi. I wonder if that is their leader or perhaps they're interested to see this big one with their own eyes? Whatever the case may be they all are looking great on this day.

The fungi provided once again on this trip and at the last minute too. Thank you my fungi friends and all the fungi lovers that might be reading this post.

Happy Fungi Friday everyone.

Here's one more instance of the word fungi for good measure 😀

They are playing hide and seek and the big one was trying to hide from the little pests running up and down the trunk!
I can almost hear then screaming with joy when they found him :D Squeaky little voices.

I hear mushroom voices... I think I am officially nuts

Hey, you're pretty good at this story telling. You're not nuts you're what they call "sensitive" to the sounds of our mushroom friends. I hear them too when I'm not making noise traipsing through the forest 😀

Thank you for the curation and have a happy Fungi Friday of course.

These fungi are super helpful breaking down everything over time and they work so cheap too 😀

Does the fungi eat the dead/fallen trees which I assume make it softer for natural composting out in the wilderness?

They sure do. This one will take forever and they do their part always munching away.

Here's a weird situation when I upvoted you. Enjoy the million bucks, I wish I could do this each time I clicked a button 😀
